This is a very sturdy, adaptable foundation that holds a DSLR camera, follow-focus unit, a bracket for an external monitor--and also allowed me to add an extra set of rods on the back to hold audio gear (mixer/preamps and audio recorder). All of this goes nearly on a tripod. I use a Manfrotto Quick Release plate to mount the camera to the Shape riser. Works well, solid. The equipment is very clean and professional; things tighten down securely with no problems. It is not petite but I like the solidity and being able to bring multiple pieces of equipment together into one package with a good form factor.

Comments about SHAPE 15mm Rod Riser System:
I bought this product for a DSLR rig. It does the job to hold follow focus and matte box. The metal parts are in good quality.[...] (I'm still waiting for the replacement knob coming) The biggest draw back is that no 3/8" screw capability. In order to put a video camera on it, I had to buy a Manfrotto 577 quick release system putting on top of it. It got 2 starts due to the price, as a DSLR riser/base plate, I gotta admit it's cheaper than Zacuto, Redrock or Letus. You definitely want to have other choice if you had bigger budget for a riser.

this product works well for me for DSLR cinematography, and most of all is price right. I cant see spending 3x the price for a name... a little bulky but well worth it

Comments about SHAPE 15mm Rod Riser System:
Bought this to mount a cheap follow focus (DeFocus) for the 7d. I didn't want to go down the Zacuto / Redrock Micro path where the rig cost more than the lens and camera combined. What I found with the Shape piece is that you don't have to. Really solid construction with plenty of holes for adding arms, battery holders, or whatever craziness I may choose. Shape has a bunch of stuff that you can add, and after seeing the quality of this I wouldn't hesitate to try.
Good stuff.
