The Vinten Vision Blue Pan and Tilt Head incorporates adjustable spring counter balancing mechanism, LF drag assemblies for pan and tilt motions, and an adjustable camera mounting plate with 1/4" screw and pin assembly. Easy to access placement of pan and tilt brakes, drag controls, and counterbalance enables you to easily adjust camera settings.
Illuminated level bubble allows for head adjustment in locations with low lighting levels, and can provide 15 second illumination by pressing the push button. The Vinten Perfect Balance technology enables load balance between 4.6-11 lb (2.1-5 kg) with a low centre of gravity of around 2.2” (55 mm), and allows the Vision Blue Pan and Tilt Head to balance the smaller lightweight cameras.
Equipped with the Vinten lubricated friction (LF) technology, it provides smooth movement of the camera. In addition, the pan and tilt brakes are located on the left side of the Vision Blue Pan and Tilt Head, and enable each axis on the head to be locked at any selected position. The camera can be mounted on the head with the help of a side plate attached to the camera, and then loaded from the back of the platform and fixed securely with a side plate clamp.

Comments about Vinten Vision Blue Pan and Tilt Head:
This is a great fluid head worth the investment. like they say you pay for what you get, and with this is perfectly smooth and easy to use for a novices. Just a great match for a DLSR shooter.
Comments about Vinten Vision Blue Pan and Tilt Head:
This head has a great feel great features, etc., what you would expect from a Vinten. Smooth drag, the pan handle feels great, better than than many others I've used, and the illuminated level is accurate and easy to use.
Two cons:
1. This head will not balance anything less than 4lbs. A DSLR with only a prime or small zoom will not balance properly, even with the counterbalance totally off. The lowest weight setup I can get away with is a 7D + 70-200mm IS. Anything lighter won't balance.
2. The mounting plate that comes with this head is not the same size as the manfrotto 577 adapters. If you use 577's in your setup, they will not be compatible with this head. I would guess that the 357 might, but I have not tried it.
Also, if you are going for a very small and portable rig, this head is slightly heavier and bulkier than the comparable Sachtler FSB-4. It is not a huge difference, but it is noticeable. For example, an fsb-4 slides right into my camera bag in the spot where a 70-200mm goes. The vision blue does not. Not a deal breaker, but for ultimate portability, the fsb-4 has an edge.
Overall, it's a good head, but make sure it will fit your setup before buying. I really wish the counterbalance range started at 0 or 2 lbs instead of 4 lbs.
