The BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D from Canon is a very useful accessory to have on hand for your DSLR. It not only offers you the added convenience of a vertical shutter release but contains the additional benefits of AE/FE Lock, AF Point Selection, Magnify Button and Aperture Exposure Compensation. There is an easy-to-use attach/detach mechanism. The grip also provides extra heft to the camera giving you more to hold on to. It operates on either two optional LP-E6 Lithium-ion batteries or six optional "AA" batteries.

This grip fits perfectly, when combined with a hand grip the camera becomes such a well balanced tool that you don't have to think about hand positioning prior to taking your shots-it all comes naturally. The grip has a solid feel in either the horizontal or vertical, with trigger and shutter controls falling naturally under the index finger. It locks securely onto the base and still allows for a quick release (tripod) mount. The contouring gives a comfortable and secure feeling when holding in either position. Combine with Hand strap for a "part of the machine feel" in horizontal. (Camera feels very secure handheld in vertical)
It comes with an extra cartridge (and a storage pouch)to allow for the use of "AA" batteries, but it would require some very serious all day shooting to drain 2 Canon branded LPE6 rechargeables allowed by the standard carrier. Camera functions entirely with the trigger's On/Off switch in either position (Grip trigger and functions require the switch to be in the ON position in order to function). It also has a place to store the camera's battery door while the grip is in use. I can't imagine using the 60D without the grip, except MAYBE when used on a ball mount tripod. It does add weight, however any additional hand fatigue that would normally be caused by this is alleviated by the hand strap. The camera can be used with either one or two LPE6 batteries installed. I highly recommend going with two, as it extends shooting time immensely. I am very pleased with the Grip and it's performance, my only concern for rating it 4 vs. 5 is the cost. I see no practical reason why this should be nearly double the price of an XTI Canon branded grip.

This is a must have for any serious shooter. I like the AF-On button on the grip, it was something that was missing from the grip I had for my Canon 40D. The only thing I don't like about this is that the batteries are on a cartridge that comes out the side. I have the Canon BG-E2 for my Canon 40D and the batteries just slide directly into the grip, making changing them a bit quicker and easier.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I really love this battery grip! Of course, I wanted/needed it because I was tired of having low batteries, but also there was an unexpected benefit. My Canon 60D feels a little slippery to my small and clumsy hands, and the battery grip has a little bit of a textured feel. The weight, along with the texture and added length really help me hold my camera with more confidence that I will not easily drop it. I am so glad that I purchased it!

I've only had this grip for about three weeks but so far I love it. The quality is very good it fits good and has a solid feel like the 60d. it does add some weight but I mostly shoot with a 70-200 and it seem balance it a whole lot better. overall I think this is a great grip and I would recommend it.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
This grip is everything I expected it to be. Gives a nice bit of girth to the 60D without weighing it down too much. Works well to keep steady hands while using lightweight prime lens'.
All functions work as expected, and the quality of the grips/plastics match the camera perfectly. The grip holds two canon batteries, but also works off one only. I bought this more for the convenience of gripping different ways than for the extra battery life.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
I purchased a Canon EOS 60D from B&H and knew immediately that I wanted a battery grip for it. I looked at aftermarket grips and was not impressed enough to put one on my new camera. I chose the BG-E9 and couldn't be happier. It fits perfectly and It's ergonomics are impressive. You know you have a good grip on your camera with this particular model. The functions operate perfectly, as is expected with a Canon product. I'm also pleased with the fact that this grip doubles the battery capacity. Without having to worry about the cost of film and developing, you tend to take a lot more pictures and with the increased battery capacity it really pays off. This grip even has a place to store the battery compartment door!
If you are thinking about a grip for your camera, then this should be a serious consideration. It is a little higher priced than aftermarket grips, but I think in this case, it's worth the extra.
I do recommend this to anyone looking for a camera grip.

I take a lot of Rock Concert Photography. Before I got the Battery Grip my hand used to get sore really fast. The grip gives the body that extra balance with a larger lens. I love the fact that I can load 2 batteries in it for extra shooting time. The only con is that it adds weight to an already heavy body. But to me its all worth it.

I use this on my Canon 60D all the time. Whatever you do make sure you buy an authentic Canon BG-E9 and BH Video just happens to have the best deals around on it.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
Firstly, this is definitely not an accessory to take with you in situations where light weight is important. If travelling, for instance, simply buying a second battery and keeping in charged and ready in your bag may be the best way to expand your battery capacity.
That said, for long portrait shoots from a tripod, this accessory is great. While the expanded battery capacity is a useful feature, the real utility is in the addition of primary controls to the camera's body that allow it to be operated comfortably while shooting for long periods of time with vertical framing.
High build quality, good ergonomics and control placement, and perfect fit and materials matching make this grip the ideal choice for Canon's 60D.

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
Battery life for the 60D is great, but what if you can't get to a wall charger every night? I purchased the grip for two reasons, 1. to give me additional power for camping trips and 2. to add the additional, must have, button for taking portrait shots. No more wrist cramps! The grip adds some additional weight, so be prepared. All in all it's a great accessory!

I love keeping it attached on the cam since its easier to hold and beastly looking. Not afraid of it frying the cam either since its authentic Canon!

Comments about BG-E9 Battery Grip for the Canon EOS 60D:
It gives the 60D a much more substantial feel. Really well made. I like that batteries come out the side of the battery grip instead of in back like on the 7D and 5D. Although, it does take a few extra seconds to put the battery in.

This battery grip is highly needed for people that plan on shooting pics all day long. After my battery died while at Disneyland with my family, I new I needed this product in order to extend my battery life. Now I'm definetely now running out of power for my Canon 60D. Note: Once the two battery packs are inserted, this will make your camera a little bit heavier.
