Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
im so impressed with vegas pro 10 its better then any other editing software out there The more and more I research the Sony Vegas Pro 10 the better I fully understand what all this program can do. The 3D editing is by far the greatest feature I think there is to this program since 3D technology is starting to really boom. Making videos compatible with all the new 3D HDTV coming out will be a huge upside to this program
Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
Vegas is a triumph of product design and usability. Compared to something like Premiere it's like emerging from a dungeon into the sunlight. Incredibly fast, responsive, and efficient, it makes everything as easy as it possibly could be, and the rendering quality is superb. It's all software based, so fancy graphics cards don't make a big difference. On a fast i7 you can edit full hd with almost no slow down at all. Use proxies and everything is completely real-time. Vegas absolutely puts Premiere to shame.

Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
Having recently started up a small, video production company, I purchased Sony Vegas Pro 10 as our editing software, contrary to the trendier but pricier options (Adobe Premiere or Final-Cut Pro).
Many hours of cutting later, I believe that it was a smart decision, especially considering the price of Vegas Pro 10 compared to other professional edit suites.
From the very start, I found that the layout and feel of the workspace was consistent with Premiere and Final-Cut, so adjusting to the new suite was easy.
I had read product-reviews that indicated that Vegas was difficult to master and awkwardly laid out, and so I was pleasantly suprised to find the interface to be logical and straight-forward.
For those new to editing, the tutorials provided will really get you around the basic functions and layout of Vegas, as they are interactive and easy to apply while working on a project; but experienced editors will intuitively grasp the workings of the software, and here I feel the tutorials are lacking in depth and could have included items dealing with the finer nuances of the software.
Another issue that I had read about, was difficulty in capturing AVCHD files. Considering that I shoot the bulk of my video footage on a DSLR, this was a worrying rumour, but Vegas has so far had no problems with capturing or importing AVCHD files from Sony or Canon DSLR's.
Completing the post-production on a music video, I have been working intensively with the video effects. Vegas Pro 10 presents a wide range of creative options to the editor, which unfortunately results in a lot of gimmicky inclusions, along with many very good ones. I feel that some of the real basics have been dropped in favour of some pretty quirky but useless effects. For example, I would rather have seen more options available in colour correction and filters, than five different mirror effects. Mirror effects, pinches and so on have their place, but I would prefer having, for example, a single mirror effect available, but one that can be comprehensively customized in the FX editor. In the same breath, I found the FX editor to be user-friendly and extensive in it's application.
On the positive side, I have found many of the effects to be contemporary, stylish and intuitive in the sense that they very often do not require any extra tweaking in the FX editor because they are perfect as is.
While the FX editor is easy to navigate, I found that the pan/crop editor to be slightly contradictory. This is perhaps a personal preference that won't bother other editors, but it seems to work inversely, so when you appear to be zooming into a scene, you're actualy decreasing it's scale. It's a minor complaint and once you adjust to this incongruity, scaling and panning your clips is simple enough.
On the whole, Sony Vegas Pro 10 is a very professional package; perfect for the requirements of most editors, and the price of this software is well suited to freelance and independent editors and producers. I am thoroughly satisfied with it's output and ease of use.

Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
Making DVDs? This is the way to go! Since I don't do editing professionally (making money!), a bit pricy but worth it for it's features and having current video 'standards' available. Be really great if they included printed manual(s).
Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
I'm just getting into video and Vegas Pro was easy to install and use.

Comments about Sony Vegas Pro 10:
As an amateur video maker, I wanted to grab a copy of editing software that wouldn't break the bank but would serve my needs fully. I think this software is the best value for the price. It does everything I need, runs great on a Windows 7 machine that doesn't have the best specs and is easy enough to grasp without having to constantly look for tutorials. That said, it is different enough from FCP and Premiere where you might be a little confused if those are the type of platforms you are most used to working with.
