I'm comparing this new bag to LowePro's original utility bag which is now discontinued by B&H. I loved the original, you had multiple dividers, large pockets, both inside & outside the case. I did not like the nosy zippers, boxy design and thin material.
I expected this new version would improve on the original but there is nothing to separate it from any other square camera bag. It is bigger than the original and has a lower profile making it less likely to snag on things and is more comfortable when worn under a large coat. The problem is there is only one small divider inside so putting lots of small items, like extra batteries, memory cards, etc. is going to lead to a jumbled, scratched-up mess. Sure you can put these items in their own cases or provide additional protection but that eats up space and makes finding them a chore. There is one pocket on the front which is so tight that you would be lucky to put anything but a lens cloth. This is not what a utility bag should be, and LowePro created a perfect example with the original enabling you to keep and carry all those small items in one bag on your belt. As an example, in the original I carried the following:
Gepe memory card case, flash Better Beamer, 18-55mm lens, 55-250mm lens, 12mm & 25mm extension tubes, 4xAA batteries, 9V battery, iPod, small speaker, wireless remote for camera & iPod, screwdriver, Allen wrenches, lens cloth, and a compass. Good luck keeping these safe & organized in the new bag.
If you want to carry a camera body or a lens then this bag works but LowePro have been making those generic bags for years. I have virtually all of LowePro's original S&F gear and this bag along with their new Flex series are poorly designed.

THIS IS A GREAT ADD-ON POUCH FOR YOUR CAMERA GEAR. IT HAS ENOUGH ROOM FOR MY SONY FLASH/ADD-ON MICROPHONE AND SPARE BATTERIES AND FREES UP ROOM IN MY LOWEPRO TOPLOADER 75 FOR EXTRA LENSES AND FILTERS ALONG WITH A SONY A580 WITH GRIP AND 18-250 LENS. KEEPS YOUR GEAR DRY AND IS WELL PADDED AGAINST THE UNAVOIDABLE BUMPS AND SCRAPES. IF I HAD TO FIND ONE FAULT ITS IT SHOULD OPEN WIDER BUT I BELIEVE AFTER IT GETS A LITTLE USE IT WILL BE FINE

Comments about Lowepro S&F Utility Bag 100 AW:
I have used Lowepro S & F gear for the last 6 years without any problems. Rain or shine this gear does its job, it is like a second insurance policy for your investment. Mud, sand, rain, even falling overboard(I do not recommend trying this) my lowepro gear has stood the test. I highly endorse this product.

Great size, fits my SB-800, light meter, 2 pocket-wizards, off-camera flash cable, flash stand. Padded "too well", but love the zip that easy to close/open and quiet.

This is the perfect bag for the belt system. I wish I bought two instead of buying the 55aw lens bag for my 24-70mm f2.8. The lens fits in this bag, secures better, little more room for storage and lays flatter.

This is an excellent small bag used to strap on a web belt and holds small items like a strobe, small hand held digital recorder, notebook, pens, business cards and the like. It holds it shape well and is easy to open and close and keeps my gear from the weather.

I bought two of these to use on a Deluxe Utility belt. One for Tenba Messenger Wraps to pad cameras and lenses in dry bags in a small boat after landing on shore, and for the dry bags themselves until reboarding; the other for filters, rain ponchos for me and the cameras and other stuff. These are very well made, bulletproof, with a divider which I don't need here on this trip. They are excellent for binoculars, a sandwich, a paperback.
