The Power Star from PSC is a rackmount 12VDC power distribution system that allows you to operate equipment and recharge batteries simultaneously from a single rechargeable battery. The convenient rackmount unit has a built-in 12VDC, 15 amp power supply and battery charger that can be used world-wide without adjustment. The unit has 10 4-pin XLR power outputs, 2 of which can deliver up to 8 amps of current draw, while the remaining 8 deliver 3.5 amps of current draw. Up to 24 amps of power may be used from a battery.
The system features Silent Power Technology to filter out unwanted switch mode noise to ensure clean, quiet audio. Each of the outputs is individually poly fuse protected and monitored for proper output and short circuits. Status LEDs assure you that everything is working correctly. The Power Star includes a small wired remote with a main power switch and a pair of digital panel meters that display battery level and current draw information.
Anytime the Power Star is connected to AC power, it will charge sealed lead acid batteries, even if the main unit is turned off. The Power Star operates with or without a battery connected, and if both a battery and AC power are connected, it becomes an uninterruptible supply, switching to battery power in the event that AC power is lost.
