Are you lost, and looking for that Goldilocks digital camera--the one that's not too big, but not too small? That shoots high resolution photos, but also superb video? With manual fine-tuning controls, but fully automatic point-and-shoot functions, too? That has high-end features, but not a high-end price? Boys and girls, meet the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black).
This mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera has a large 17.3 x 13.0mm Live MOS sensor that records 16.05MP of high resolution goodness, 1920 x 1080 60i HD Video with Dolby stereo sound, a multi-function Touch Screen for control of both stills and video, and extremely fast auto focus in a camera 1/3 smaller (4.88 x 3.53 x 2.98"/12.4 x 8.96 x 7.58 cm) and lighter (13.82 oz/392 g) than most DSLRs.
It has a 3" free-angle LCD with 460,000 dots, high sensitivity up to ISO 12800, and an advanced dust reduction system to protect image quality. RAW capability in still images gives you ultimate control for the best pictures possible.
There's a lot more, of course. Like 3D shooting capability with the Lumix G 12.4mm/F12 interchangeable lens, a built-in flash with 1st and 2nd curtain sync, and iA (Intelligent Auto) mode that makes all settings automatically to give you optimal results without worrying about shutter speeds or exposure. Both stills and video can be customized with Scene and Color modes for a vast range of creative options. A Cinema mode allows you to shoot 1080/24p video with 24Mbps, a Variable Movie mode lets you choose the frame rate, from 80% to 300%, there are a variety of color modes (including 3 different black and white settings), and, you can even shoot a high resolution 14MP photo at the touch of the shutter button, while recording video! A wide range of optional accessories such as an external stereo microphone, a zoom lever for smoother zooms in video recording, external flash, HDMI cable, etc. might make the DMC-GH2 just right for you.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black):
I love this thing.
By way of background, I had a Nikon D50 a few years ago. For whatever reason, my approach to digital photography then was: set it on auto; take lots of shots; delete til ya find a keeper. I didn't know or care about shutter speed or aperature. But that's okay. It also turned out to be quite boring.
That's not been my experience with the GH2. First off, the hacks make it an unbelievable engaging. They take this little marvel and in some cases quadruple its potential. Amazing. And that in turn invites you in to compose. The rewards are immediate.
What a piece of engineering. Fantastic.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black):
I'm a life-long, agency-tenured creative. Been around a lot of equipment and a lot of photographers and videographers. So when I decided to get really serious about offering video, I did my research, and tried several well-rated DSLR's for the job. I shoot documentaries. My subjects require lots of in-field shooting; I need to be mobile, light, and fast. I can't waste time with systems that require multiple steps for exposure...things happen too quickly. Additionally, I want to be able to craft a great shot when I do have the time...so full manual control is important to me. The GH2 is, quite simply, a great video DSLR. It's priced very well, especially if you already have an arsenal of lenses, as I do. I shoot Nikon for my stills. With a relatively inexpensive micro-four-thirds converter, all the glass I love can now contribute towards equally lovely 1080i video. Strengths: - Amazing sensor: excellent low-light sensitivity- Full manual control for video: shutter speed, ISO, and with lenses with an aperture control ring, great depth of field control. (Even for my Nikon G lenses, you can acquire a diopter with a manual aperture ring. Magical.)- Light, and unobtrusive. Although I do use a full rig for controlled situations and interviews, it's light enough to go on a hand-held steady-cam type device for smooth images for moving targets. In a public situation, it doesn't attract lots of attention, which is also a boon for documentary shooting. - Flip-out, fully articulating 3" touchscreen: you want extreme angles without contorting yourself to man the camera? This is your tool. The touchscreen and "Quick Menu" enables you to access the most go-to controls on the fly, including manual adjustment assist, which is an absolute godsend for video. Not So Greats:- Battery longevity: Although this little gem doesn't overheat like the other DSLR's I've used when shooting video, it doesn't shoot as long without requiring a battery change. I've purchased multiple batteries, and keep 'em juiced for field work, and plug it into a wall for interviews and other controlled work. - Mac file compatibility: I use Final Cut Pro X to edit my footage, and although I can import directly from the card into FCPX, my preferred method is to do what I usually do with my Nikon's: drag the files into a well-organized directory structure in the Finder, then import. That way, all my keywords are retained for easier sorting and searching. The GH2's file type isn't so linear; you can't just pull your footage off the card and organize it into folders. You have to do a specific import. If you're an old pro using larger professional cameras, you'll find the control offered by this small, amazing unit to be absolutely delightful. If you're new to DSLR video, but have a good supply of photo gear, you'll find this to be a very easy entree to the genre, and it's flexible enough to accomodate what you've already got. Amazing quality. Amazing price. Flexible application. It deserves the accolades the industry has given it.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black):
It came as advertised: an alternative to the Canon 7D and 5D.
If you're using this for video, it's too small as a handheld - you'll need some sort of handheld or shoulder rig for that (but then again the same could be said about the much heavier and bigger 7D or 5D - still too awkward to hold without a rig).
Biggest advantage with this camera is its versatility: with lens adapters, you can use a wide array of lenses, giving you more options. Quickly becoming a classic.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black):
I am a filmmaker and have/Used a lot of Canon gear that I still use and Like, but when I started reading about the Gh2 and what it offered I had to get one. I love that it has the flip out screen for filming in certain angles and tight spaces. The camera is also a lot smaller than any of the Canons which is a pro and a con to some people. THE BIGGEST reason and plus for me using this camera is the DETAIL in the DEEP shots. If your filming a tree line or forest or mountain, or any landscape for that matter, it gives you mind blowing results from such a little camera, also if you hack your bit rate to an even higher setting it just keeps getting better! It is also really nice using micro four thirds because you can use virtually ANY lens with proper adapters. This means you can get some cool old cinema lenses for a unique look. The only thing I didnt like at first was getting used to the settings and menues, but its all good now.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera (Black):
Excellent little camera out of the box. I bought it to supplement my GF3 for video shoot. Video and still picture quality are awesome. I don't like the two triangle rings that are use to attach the camera strap. They are loose and make noise in windy conditions. Multiple frame shoot is ok but nothing compare to a my DSLR. Battery life cannot last me a day of wildlife shoot despite using only the view finder. Meet my expectations for what it is designed for.
