The BD-R2000 from Tascam is a professional-quality rackmount video recorder that allows you to capture standard or high-definition video to a hard drive, SD card, DVD, or Blu-ray disc. Ideal for production companies, educational facilities, houses of worship, and more the unit has a 4-pin FireWire input for accepting DV and HDV video, as well as S-Video and RCA composite video inputs, plus a USB input. This allows you to capture virtually any video you have to the internal 500GB hard drive. You can then burn the video to a DVD or Blu-ray, copy it to an SD/SDHC memory card or attached USB drive, or simply play it back directly.
For playback, the unit offers an HDMI output, as well as composite and component BNC connectors, an S-Video output, and an optical digital audio output. This allows you to connect to televisions, projectors, AV receivers, and more. In addition to the recording and playback functions, the BD-R2000 also offers on-board editing. You can create playlists, trim scenes, separate and arrange clips on a menu, and create photo slideshows before burning to a disc and sharing.
A single-touch dubbing feature lets you copy an entire DVD, Blu-ray, SD/SDHC card, or USB drive to the internal hard drive and then burn the content to a Blu-ray disc at up to 32x speed. The disc tray locks during recording to prevent accidental ejection and errors. An RS-232C serial port allows wired control, and wireless control is also possible with the included full-function remote.

Comments about Tascam BD-R2000 Rackmount High-Definition Blu-Ray/DVD Recorder:
This product is an overpriced piece of junk.
We purchased this product to use in a professional environment to play both Blu-Ray discs and to playback digital video media (live event shows).
The digital video files (and we tried nearly every conceivable format) just would not play or even show up. The unit wouldn't even acknowledge that there were files (besides pictures) on the SD Card or USB Drive.
Furthermore, Tascam was unable to help us when we called multiple times to ask for support.
Buyer beware - this unit does not perform as indicated and certainly is not worth the money.

Comments about Tascam BD-R2000 Rackmount High-Definition Blu-Ray/DVD Recorder:
Very Over priced. Why do retailers get so greedy at the time of new technology? And this is POOR technology! Poor results. I will return this and wait for technology to produce a blu ray recorder that is GOOD!

Comments about Tascam BD-R2000 Rackmount High-Definition Blu-Ray/DVD Recorder:
too strong of copy protection on both sd and bd make this unit useless. cant record hd through firewire except from camcorder. every functions are very slow. editing is like joke. basicly you can not use this unit as bluray recorder to capture hdtv of any sort. too bad. no recording timer!!! no chase play!!! this unit is very inconvenient to use. you actually have to press record manually on time like first generation vhs from 80s. for what it is, it is way over priced. it should be sold for less than [$]. i'm looking forward to see panasonic bringing in their deega line soon.
