Comments about Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Desktop Computer (Dark Blue):
Contrary to some reports, the Aspire AR3700 makes a fine little home theater PC. Just a few steps need to be taken before it will play any 1080p file (in my experience) you throw at it:
1) Remove bloatware and remove as many apps from startup as possible.
2) Turn off as many Windows effects as you can stand. I have it all turned off except for the Windows 7 Style with little noticable difference- It still looks sleek and modern.
3) Get VLC as your media player. WMP works well, too, but the ability to tune the options of VLC will guarantee success in playback.
4) In VLC, under the FFDSHOW codec settings, uncheck the option that the mouseover says uses a lot of CPU. You won't notice the difference.
I give this unit 4 out of 5 stars because I imagine it might not be up to snuff for everything YOU may want- Netflix performance could be better. I use my xbox 360 for netflix. Also, I've heard that integrating a tuner for DVR functionality yields unsatisfactory results. Also, the shape of the case is very strange. Unless you plan on standing it vertically with the included stand, it's a little ungraceful, with no obvious 'front' or back,' and the SPDIF port usually ends up on the 'front.' I knew all this going in, though, and I'm super-pleased with my purchase.

Great little space saver. I have no room to spare in my overcrowded office and this takes up less room than my laptop practically. Works great has the n wireless speed. The price can't be beat.

This is excatly what I needed! My only issue was adjusting the resolution to match by HDTV. The PC defaults to the display's native resolution. However, native on my display caused the edges to clip, so I had to do some fine tuning. Aside from that, the PC is working just fine.

Comments about Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Desktop Computer (Dark Blue):
I use this product for web browsing and other general tasks. It works great for almost anything and outputs to a 42"TV set at 1080p no problem (make sure the TV is set at "just scan" for aspect ratio so you don't get a cut image over HDMI). It can handle most all tasks but should not be considered a replacement for a full fledged HTPC. Windows Media Player does a decent job with 1080p video however VLC and Quicktime do not. Expect choppy playback with the latter two.
The size is great, really hardly takes up any space. I would highly recommend this for anything other than Flash at high resolutions or other intensive things like Adobe Creative Suite applications. In general use it starts up quickly and is really snappy to use. It's whisper quiet and uses an external laptop style power adapter.

I'm not the right person to critique this product, as my IT guy takes care of recommendations and implementation. However...I went from a desktop that quit and now I have this neat little device that I can carry around my property and connect via an HDMI cable to any monitor including my flatscreen where we will be streaming movies via Netflix. We are in the process of choosing housing for my 2 hard drives that came out of my last desktop such that my info will be accessed wirelessly where I am with the Acer. My IT guy liked it so much, I bought him one too.

Comments about Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Desktop Computer (Dark Blue):
The Acer Revo (AR3700-U3002) net top computer is, for me, a great little PC. There are several reasons for this. First, there was barely any bloat ware. I didn't spend my time uninstalling a lot of unneeded software. Secondly, you can attach it to a TV/PC that has a VESA mount. My Revo is attached to the back of the monitor as I write this which saves space. Third, it comes with a great price for everything you get. I researched the Asus Eee, Zotac, Lenovo, and Dell net tops and the Acer just seemed better. This particular model comes with DDR3 memory, a dual core CPU, wireless keyboard and mouse, and 250GB hard drive. The other models came with one or the other but not all three. I needed a PC that was small, inexpensive, and powerful. The Acer Revo gives me that. The Revo is good for just about everything multimedia/general use. I use both Google SketchUp and Blender, as well as, some programming and it works beautifully.

I am using this acer nettop for streaming Netflix. I have also loaded a karaoke player just to try it out. I have created some office documents and have accessed the media on my desktop system in my den. The browser tends to get a little sluggish at times, but I need to remember that it is not supposed to perform like a high end desktop. The audio and video are both very good. I have the system plugged into a surround sound system and from there I feed my TV. I have a 500GB USB drive hooked up to the system and have set it up to backup weekly.
The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is speed. That is because I am spoiled with fast computers.

Comments about Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Desktop Computer (Dark Blue):
I purchased the Acer Aspire Revo AR3700 as a small footprint computer to use at my workshop desk, which has very little surface space, and networked it with my desktop in my home office. It works great! [...] Everything worked flawlessly right our of the box. Eventually I did have to buy an external drive to load programs and copy file to disk, but other than that, I think the price was right for the quality and performance of this little computer. It can hold its own side by side with its bigger cousins.
Comments about Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Desktop Computer (Dark Blue):
Despite coming with lots of unnecessary software, these are nice little computers, chock full of excellent features. HDMI, optical audio, and five USB ports, etc. It runs Windows 7 well, the internal wireless antenna is a nice touch. No complaints.

I was the happy owner of a 1610 Revo but needed some more performance, mainly on the 1080p and/or Windows Media Center. Guess what ? Perfect.
