I have used the Logitech N700 for a few weeks now.
1) For my Samsung setup it provides an angle and height that are just about ideal. It appears easy enough to tote from room to room though I do not plan on moving about much with the lapdesk.
2) As a cooler it drops the core temps just a few degrees Celcius in each core of my Intel i3 powered laptop PC. Frankly, I was hoping for a bit more as some users have reported much better cooling than I am experiencing. I think it may depend on your laptop exhaust configuration whether it exhausts to the rear, or sides, or straight down. This Sammy exhausts straight down to the left.
3) As for the sound, it is a decided improvement over the built-in laptop speakers. The deck speakers manage to pump fairly decent audio despite their small size. For my ancient near-broken ears they are not going to blast me out of the room, but I think for folks without hearing disabilities these lapdesk speakers will prove more than adequate.
4) The speaker grills are removable for cleaning. This was an unexpected bonus.
5) The N700 automatically declared itself the default sound device. There is no software to install. At one point, for unexplained reasons, the lapdeck speakers failed to function despite all proper settings and System recognition. The dilemma was solved by unplugging and reinserting the USB cable. The problem has not resurfaced.
6) Earphones, internal laptop speakers or external speakers will not function when using the N700 - all audio originates from its stereo speaker set when the lapdesk is plugged into a USB port.
7) I am running the lapdesk from a powered USB hub and that works just fine. Did not have to sacrifice a USB port on my laptop as my hub had an open port. Whether the N700 would function from a non-powered hub I do not know.
8) The lapdesk is 20" wide, and in my case, I still have ample room to the right for my external mouse. Someone operating in tight quarters might have to mouse over the plastic speaker grills or rely on the touchpad. You can mouse over the speaker grills, but at max there might be about 4" of mousing room on top that grill. The lapdesk is unlikely to fit in your standard laptop carrier bag.
9) Audio up/down, mute and fan on/off are controlled by switches on the lapdeck.
All-in-all a nice addition to my setup and the B&H sale price was appreciated. I would recommend this product especially to those with rear or side exhaust laptops.

Well I bought this lapdesk and it was really good, I bought it because in the TV they showed that you are able to fly so I was like alright. After buying this lapdesk I was so happy because I jumped from a cliff and flew like a plane, they also said that you are able to control the ability of changing people mind so I was amazed at making my cat talk, he told me a really good story it was funny he said I never clean his bed so I was sad but also fun I was just so Amazed. As i do before I buy any item, i went on youtube where they unpack the item and do a full demo of it better than logitech itself. it's hard of course to judge the sound Quality there but is was somehow convincing enough.
And, indeed, the sound is nice balanced bass treble and midrange.
the fan is not enough to cool my HP ENVY 173D but I feel noticeable difference. I wish the fan was a bigger one as there is PLENTY of space on the unit...
Also with a bigger fan, there should be settings for speed in case you want a lot of air and i wouldn't think it would be that noisy since the hi settings would be when you are playing 3d games with the speaker volume also cranked up anyway...
the bottom is comfortable and also allows me to land my 2000 laptop on any non recommended surface such as leaving it temporarily on a pile of blankets, on the couch or rough surface while I get a cable, drink or something...not worried of my laptop bottom to get hot or scratched which would kill me.
I leave my laptop permanently on top of it1 Can't use my laptop without it.
my laptop is a 17.3 inch and it does NOT cover the speakers!! i still have 2" of space on each side.
I just wished the speakers were made of a higher quality such as polyurethane instead of paper, even better a mini subwoofer and i would pay up to $120 for it... don't get me wrong. the speakers sound fantastic because of the big enclosure without distortion or vibration.
Buy this by all means!

This fan is great! It keeps my laptop cooler than any other, and the speakers make it great for reviewing footage with a client, or even just watching a movie! I was concerned at first, because it is marketed as being a fan for you lap, but it works great on a desk, as well. It's definitely worth the price since the basic, $20 fans lose functionality so quickly.

Ordered 2 of them, one for me and a friend, and we both love the sound that comes from the N700 Cooling Stand by Logitech. It is safe and comfortable on the lap, and on any surface. Way to go, Logitech!
An added plus would be to add a "pause" button to the speaker section of the item. I guess pressing the "pause" button on the computer is just as close as the buttons on the N700.

I use this for both my 11.6" mini as well as an 17" HP. It seems a bit bulky, but it's so comfortable, I don't mind the little extra weight.
Even if the speakers are partially covered by the laptop, it's still a nice improvement over 17" machines inboard speakers...nice little bass boost.
Works fine with Win7. Keeps my lap cool, and good circulation to the vents on the bottom of the laptop....helps keep it running cooler.
No Cons that come to mind.
