The Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1300 from APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an electrical outage. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery which continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut from them. An LCD status display provides information including remaining battery life, load capacity, and event notices. The battery is hot-swappable and easy to replace. An audible alarm alerts you of events like power outage and low battery.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1300:
I use this to protect my computer and RAID backup. So far it has been great. Had a power outage with hurricane Irene and didn't have any hiccups.
This is a great little UPS. It's a little more ergonomic than most, which is good. I particularly love the Energy Saver mode. When I put my Mac to sleep it senses that the power draw has lowered and it automatically shuts off power to several other outlets on the UPS (which I have my speakers, printer, etc, hooked to).
This does have a USB connection which connects to my Mac and the Mac has built in options to use this link and automatically shut down when you are on battery and the power is low.
I do wish there was interface software for Mac. They only have it for Windows, but I get by just fine with the built in OS X UPS options and the buttons on the front of the UPS.
Pretty happy with this.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1300:
I purchased this model when the battery in the older UPS finally gave out. This model is more efficient where power saving features are concerned.
I am a photographer and have my computer on much of the time with several external hard drives attached. It is very important that sudden power outages do not shut my system down.
This model and the previous model work flawlessly in that respect. The only downside is that this model does not have telephone/fax connectors as did the previous.

Comments about APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1300:
I owned an APC Back UPS XS 1000 for many years and it worked flawlessly. In fact, it was still working and I only decided to buy this new unit to keep up with the improved technology and power saving features.
I am a professional photographer and these days our stuff LIVES on a computer. I've worked through short power outages/spikes with no issue to my computer and connected peripherals. It definitely helps me keep my peace of mind.
This 1300 model hooked up in about 3 minutes, so easy. It looks sleek too. Also, I discovered that the new Macs (like my iMac) have built in UPS management in them so if you have a Mac you don't even need to install Powerchute, it just all works seamlessly.
