The printer was very easy to set up and was pretty staight forward if connecting directly to a PC USB port. I purchased the printer for its wireless capability and had difficulty in setting wireless printing. The instructions were not very clear and it took a few hours to figure out how to set up the printer for wireless printing through a network.

Now that I am up an running I am very happy with the printer.

Excellent product. Worked straight out of the box. Perfect printing. I use this for everyday color printing, I have a second photos only printer. Duplex works perfectly. I set the system up as a wired system so I have no comments on the wireless functionality. Great price!

I just got it for my home office. The setup was very simple using a USB cable for setup. Then the connectivity is via wireless. Simple install.One surprise is how quiet this printer is when not printing. It goes into a "sleep" mode that is absolutely silent. The duplexor saves a lot of paper and performs without problems. Another thing that was very important to me is that the toner cartridges and the drums are separate components, so you don't have to replace the drums every time you replace the toner. This will add to dramatic savings over time.

Great for a few college students studying engineering and chemistry. No fussing with the printer, software, or networking to do what I want. The layout was very intuitive for me. The print quality exceeded expectations. Still haven't filled the ink for over six months of light use. The unit did get a power surge but Brother had some of the local technicians come to my home and repair the unit. Great support from Brother! Not even plugging the unit into a battery backup (bad idea) it pulls extra amps and sometimes makes my computer (in the UPS) restart. Low voltage or low current condition? I'm still troubleshooting. I put the UPS on extra sensitive for now. If it becomes an issue I can plug the HL-4570CDW into another socket that's not on the same circuit as my computer. Or I can put it anywhere and just go wireless with an adapter. I love the flexibility. Even though it is big, heavy, noisy, and sleeps a lot it's not lazy. No more changing print cartridges every month and being overly conservative with ink. No paper jams!

I have only had this a few weeks and have limited usage. However, to this point, it has worked flawlessly and been a delight. I replaced a Samsung CLP-315 that was a nightware with jamming problems. So far, not a single jam, and have printed duplex, simplex, color photos, and envelopes. Although not photo-quality, the prints were very acceptable (at least for my use). I had difficulty with the wireless setup using the Quick Guide with my Verizon MiFi broadband device. However, when I went to the customer support site, I was directed to on-CD setup software along with step-by-step illustrated instructions that easily and successfully competed the wireless connection. Although bigger than the CLP-315, it is still small enough to sit on a table top and not be a nuisance. Warm up seems very acceptable and prints come out crisp and quickly once printing starts.

The HL-457CDW Color Laser Printer is an (almost) perfect solution for the printing needs of a home business / small office.

SETUP:

The directions were very easy to follow, for both unboxing / reading the printer AND setting up its wireless connection.

PRINTING:

As a law student, it prints fast enough for my home office needs (20 pages per minute), though there are certainly faster printers on the market. Impressively, it takes only about 10 seconds for the printer to start printing out of sleepmode. The HL-4570CDW prints color at a resolution of 2400 dpi x 600 dpi, which is great for brochures and other professional business documents. However, its toner is pricy and *easily* will cost you more than the printer itself over time. Black cartridges are available in multiple sizes.

CONS:

- I did not expect this printer to be as large as it is; make sure to check the dimensions before buying. It is more suited for a small business than a home office.

- Noisy while printing, and keeps humming for several minutes afterward.

- A scanner function would have been appreciated. Do note that this is NOT an all-in-one printer.

I'm only giving 4 stars because I've only had this printer a few weeks. So far I am very pleased with the printer. I use it for our home based business and I print a lot of color flyers. The colors come out really nice. I replaced a Dell 3000cn printer that finally shot craps after about 6 years of use. I must say the replacement toners are much more expensive for this printer than they were with the dell but the yield on the Brother toners is also a lot more (6000 vs 4000 with black. I also have a Brother MFC color printer that I use mainly as a copier and fax machine. I have had to use it occasionally for our flyers and the problem with that printer is the toner leaks out sometimes. I'm waiting to see if that happens with this printer as well, but so far it has not after printing roughly 2000 flyers.
This printer also prints a lot faster then the Dell printer. So far all is good.

This is a very good printer. Very fast, and nice color prints. It was easy to setup and simple to install the drivers. The only complaint I have is the noise it makes when printing.

This great, small printer is exactly as described. It's fast!! Easy to get set up, and super easy to change the ink cartridges, duplexing works like a charm. The quality is great too and for the low price - you can't go wrong. I haven't used the wireless yet and don't know how long the cartridges last that's why I didn't rate 5 stars, but so far I couldn't find one negative about it -- Buy it!!!

Bought this printer for its great reviews online. First laser jet for me. Was a little difficult to set up. Once I turned it on, it kept giving me a "toner not installed error." Followed all instructions three times. Finally contacted Brother company and had to go thru a 10-minute phone menu system. The department couldnt help me as it was the weekend so had to wait but was able to resolve printer issue myself by powering down, unplugging printer, and rebooting it. However, later was impressed with Brother's customer care service...they called me three times until they got in touch with me to resolve the printer issue. I guess they redeemed themselves from their phone menu system.

Am impressed with the photo/image print quality. Duplex system is a luxury for me. Nice added bonus. Once I calibrated printer with my monitor for best color results, it prints beautifully.

Easy to set up and functioned smoothly out of the box. My main reason for purchasing my first Brother printer was all the written promises of high quality color, but it fell short of the quality of my HP printers. So I have to run the more important jobs on my HPs, which I had planned to retire.

The Brother HL-4570CDW printer is a replacement for a Konica/Minolta 2350 Magicolor printer that I found would cost more to repair than it was worth. Unlike the Magicolor, which took about 4 minutes, the Brother printer is ready to print from a cold start in about a minute. It is also relatively fast, without all of the churning heard in the Magicolor printer, has good resolution, and is easy to set up, either as an Ethernet printer or as a wireless printer. Also, the duplex capability seems to work without any problems (at least in the limited time I have been using it). I also like the manual tray that is accessed by opening the front panel, since I find that much easier to use for printing checks in Quicken. The color is reasonably accurate (for a laser - but not as good as a good inkjet) when printing photos. I don't have enough experience with the printer yet to comment on the toner consumption, but that is always an issue with laser printers - compared to inkjets. So far, I am very happy with the printer and would recommend it to others.

Brother's CLR is joy to own. The set-up was simple for my Mac.
The printer does what you want when you want it to. It's quite and cost effective.
The print Quality is superb with easy color adjustments. The duplex system and wireless network is first rate. I also interfaced a scansnap scanner which works in seemless accord with the printer.
