I've only used it a few times but I've had lots of experience with its grandfather the HL-2070 so I am not new to this. The wireless on this works flawlessly (the cd gave me problems in Virtualbox so I just did the browser based setup). Brother also (amazingly!) provided linux drivers on their website so I get to use the advanced features of this printer in linux. I can't say anything about the Windows or Mac installation but (probably way easier) i had to make some changes in CUPS to network it. All in all its fantastic and I only sold my HL-2070 to get this beast since I had printed over 3000 sheets on the 2070 and wanted wireless and DUPLEXING!!!! its AMAZING for printing notes for school and the duplexing saves you from the hassle of waiting to flip the paper and then making sure its on the right side!!! Nowadays its hit print get ready for school and grab the notes. Beats injet in pricing/sheet and speed, whats not to love.

This is a great printer overall with one major flaw: The fan is extremely noisy and stays on for over 10 minutes after even the smallest print job. After that, it is silent.
The print quality out of the box needs tweaked to be set to 1200 DPI and darkened a bit, in order to match the older, more expensive Panasonic all in one it replaced. There is also some banding on solid blacks. Auto duplexing works well, and the printer is very fast and visually appealing. Good paper capacity.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
I put off buying a printer for years and decided it was time to finally do it (I was just printing docs at work occasionally). The printer is a good size, was easy to physically set up, and seems to print quickly at high quality. For an under-$100 printer I am very satisfied. The wifi functionality is awesome! However, the manual is needlessly complicated, almost like a "Choose your own adventure" book but harder to follow. Skim it before starting, and make sure you know which steps apply to you and which do not. It's easier than it looks, but I might have just gotten lucky.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
This is a fast printer that can print duplex without having to manually flip the pages. This function is great to save paper. Wireless is nice because I can set it anywhere so that it makes it easier to be organized in tight spaces. It is kind of load when printing though, but when its on standby its quiet.

Have purchased for my wife who is working on her dissertation, and writes a weekly column for a local paper.
This printer shines with text prints. The greatest weakness is sub-optimal graphics printing, in any resolution with all settings attempted.
The set-up procedure is easy, and allows for virtually all wifi settings/combinations when doing advanced setup options.
Toner is not expensive, and generic toner works very well.
All in all this machine has addressed our needs: duplex printing, cost efficiency, and small(er) footprint.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
Once you set it up, this is a great printer, it works like a charm, however, setup was a night mare for me, and I am a very technical guy,
my environment is Mac (10.6, 10.7) and windows 7, I tried first to set up the wireless, following the user manual, just didn't work, tried to contact brother support , this is the worst support organization I ever dealt with, what they basically did is sending me links to things I already tried, they didn't even try to resolve or troubleshoot the problem, when I told them I give up and return the printer, they disconnected our chat session,
Then, after I finally connected the printer to all the computers, it worked fine, but then got to sleep after 3 minutes (power saving), and any new print job failed because the printer did not respond, this time brother support put the blame on my wireless router
Finally after hours of trying, I was able to make it work, The driver settings had to be different, It is not shown anywhere in their user manual, but when you set the driver on a mac, you need to make sure you selected HP direct inject, once I tried this the printer started to work
so bottom line, after almost giving up, now when everything is connected and working, the printer is great, its fast, accurate and I am happy with it

Quite cheap for a duplex BW laser printer. It's quite light compared to Brother 4070CDN but this one is only black&white. When it prints, it's quite noisy.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
I spent the better portion of a month looking for a good, cheap printer for my place and I found the perfect combination with this one. Duplex printing helps me save paper and wireless printing allows my roommate and I to share it from different rooms. For [$], it was as cheap as or cheaper than other printers that didn't have either of these features I was looking for. Overall it's been a good purchase that I would recommend to others.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
First of all, B&H once again delivered an excellent product. This printer was on a limited time sale for [$] with free shipping! We've been contemplating for a couple of months about replacing our aging F380 all-in-one printer. We are using several laptops around the house, so we were inclined to get something that has wireless capabilities. Most of the things that we print involve text, so a monochrome printer should be sufficient to handle our printing needs. The automatic duplex printing for this unit will definitely help save on some paper. The unit itself has a small footprint. I think the built quality is slightly above-average. Most of the exterior material is made of plastic. I was surprised to find it on the heavier side. The initial start-up/warm-up cycle for this unit is a bit on the noisy side but it can be tolerable. The unit has several options when it comes to setting up the wireless connectivity (e.g. via USB, via Ethernet and via one-touch WPS). You can use the one-touch wireless protected setup (WPS), if your wireless router also supports such feature. In my case, I also had a router with WPS. However, I initially had problems setting up the printer's wireless capability. I could not establish a good connection between the printer and the router. As it turns out, I had a faulty router. Also, one design annoyance that I found with this printer is the design of the WPS switch. You need a thin wire or a toothpick to activate the WPS (it's design like a hard reset switch). If you are replacing a faulty router or moving the printer to a new network or workgroup, you have to have a good space to access the printer's back. I went on to replace the faulty router. However, my spare router did not have any WPS capabilities. So I opted to setup via USB. Annoyingly, the manufacturer seems to be penny pinching with the fact that it did NOT even provide a USB (Type-B) cable. Luckily, I had a spare one from an external hard drive. Setting up via USB is quite quick and easy. I suggest downloading the latest software from Brother's website. The quick start guide that came with the box is a bit outdated when providing step-by-step instructions regarding software setup. The screen shots and UI have been slightly revamped with the latest software.Despite the 2 flaws, this printer is very capable of handling everyday printing. I have also ordered the TN450 extended toner cartridge which is rated to about 2600 pages.

We were looking for an inexpensive printer to rein in the ink cost of our Epson color printer. The Brother printer was fairly easy to set up in a wireless mode, and does a great job printing. Even graphics are printed in an acceptable manner. For the price the machine meets our needs totally, and it's now our default printer.

Comments about Brother HL-2270DW Compact B/W Laser Printer with Wireless Networking & Duplex:
After years and many iterations of ink cartridge printers, I decided to pull the trigger on HL-2270DW during $50 off promotion.
The printer was bigger and heavier than I had imagined, but it didn't matter as much since it was wireless, as I could place it anywhere without it taking up real estate on top of my desk.
The installation for me was very simple and straight forward, although I thought the manual literature was a bit confusing, as it outlines several different ways of getting the printer up and running. The simplest for me was to hook up the printer to my laptop through a USB cable (not included!) that I yanked from my old printer.
After the initial set up, subsequent driver installations on my other computers around the house was really easy as well. On a Mac running OS X when I went to add the printer, it simply discovered it on the network and found the necessary drivers and I was ready to go within minutes. On a PC running Windows 7, I had to download and install the driver only package from the Brother website, before adding the printer to get it to work.
There are 3 things I simply love about this printer, first is that the speed of a print is blazing fast. Second is that it prints double sided by itself. And last but not least, that it is wireless so I can print from anywhere, and on any computer around the house.
