I don't have a cable box, per se, so The VCR doesn't record, not having a tv tuner in it, unless I am watching while recording.
Not a problem for me, we hardly ever record anything anyhow, as we bought it so that we could watch our many VHS tapes and also our DVDs with one unit, one input to the tv and eliminate a RF MODULATOR.
Good value and very nice picture.

This DVD/VCR Combo Player works really well and is very easy to use . It is made of a very light plastic though so don't put anything heavy on top of it. The Remote Control is very simplle and easy to use also but the numbers and symbols on it are a light grey rather than black and in dark rooms or with older people it is sometimes hard to read. They could fix that easily and I wish they would. My mother is 94 and it would sure help her.

I got this for Christmas in 2010 in the original packaging. It was brand new and just over a year after I got it the dvd player has stopped working. I put any disc in and it won't even read it. The word stop shows up at the top of the screen and it does the same when there isn't even a disc in there. I have tried every thing to fix it and it won't work!

Maybe my fault, but I purchased this unit to tape/ program taping from tv programs/ unfortunatelly this is unit with NO TUNER so forget any taping

My third purchase from B & H, and I am happy with this, as always. Hard to find VCR/DVD combos now, and at this price, this is a steal. I only received this a little over a week ago and have just used the DVD part so far, but all is well. I had a friend of mine hook it up to my TV and Verizon FIOS box since I cannot do anything without screwing it up. He had it done in no time.
