I haven't had a whole lot of time with the player yet, but I did test it out. The video quality is amazing, the audio is pretty good i'd say. Its very thin and light, it reads sdhc cards easily. I tried to pause and play a few times and the video stays in sync.
A few things I did notice...no support for wmv files, and I wish it came with a carry case, and no remote. These are very minor things, and just my observations.

I went online shopping for a video player that I could take with me when I travel. This machine seemed to be the perfect fit: somewhat inexpensive, good size, light, and plays a whole host of file types. As soon as I loaded some shows onto the internal memory I gave it a spin, and it worked great. Then when I tried to delete those shows, the problems started. First off, the files on the internal memory could not be deleted. It showed that they were deleted when plugged into my computer, but when I unplugged the device, there they were on the screen of the device. I contacted Aluratek via their website, where they guarantee a response within 24 hours, and that's what I got: a single response. And it wasn't even an answer to my question. Suffice it to say that the customer service at Aluratek is terrible.
Now, as I go to use it when I go and travel, most of the files on the SD card I purchased to use with the device are not playing. They play the first minute of the movie and then skip to the next movie. Or there is a large lag in the playback. This is happening for both .mp4 and .avi files. The files play great on my computer, but not on the device.
So what I'm saying overall, in so many words, is don't buy this piece of junk. You can find better out there.

I haven't had a lot of time with this unit but so far I'm very happy with what we've got. It plays all the formats of video I have and is lightweight. The only cons so far are that it takes a long time to transfer from an SD card to the internal memory (but that's not significant). Also the e reader which only display text files so isn't really an ereader and a firmware update for mobi, epub and/or pdf would be appreciated. What would make it a 5* for me though would be a USB charging cable as i plan to have this in the car for my kids and the 4 hour battery life won't be enough. There is one company that sells them but at [$]+ postage that's quite expensive for this unit. (PS if anyone knows the size of the barrel jacks that it uses and where I can get some cheap cables i'd really appreciate it.)

Some Reviews out there say that the interface is not intuitive. I disagree. It is exactly how I would have designed it. In fact I loaded it up with movies and songs and played them without having to read the manual. The quality of the screen and the sound quality is really excellent. The only criticism I have is that copying directly to the player from the computer is kind of slow. 4 MB/s I guess USB 2.0 was necessary to keep costs down although 4 MB/s isnt close to the theoretical USB 2 speed. So what I did is I put my media on a Corsair USB stick and plug that in. That way I can copy my files at 23 MB/s. This player doesnt skip, and the only glitch I have found is that sometimes when you fast forward and then want to play, you have to push play a bunch of times to get it to stop, but that just may be my really large thumb. As far as I know this is the only player that allows you to play all files out there. XVids, Divx, you name it.
The Flac files sound spectacular. The headphones are really good too. I love this thing. Im tempted to buy another just to have when this one goes out eventually. Just in case it gets discontinued. It shouldn't be discontinued but most people out there buy a tablet and watch netflix stuff, so they dont need to be able to play all of the formats. Hopefully they will add touchscreen capability to a future version. Thats the only thing I would really like to see added. Buy this product, you will not be disappointed. I sure wish this was available when I was a teenager. Oh and great battery life! I velcroed mine to the wall by my bed, so I can watch while my head is on the pillow. Awesome!

Don't support mp4. Small storage and take long to copy files on the device. It will be better just spend 99 dollars and get a 8 inch hong kong made android touch screen tablet so u can play games and multimedia and network all together

Bought this to replace a DVD player we use mostly for long car trips and air travel. This is a great player for the price. I bought an SD card to augment the memory and it's exactly what we need.

The player so far has easily handled every file type I've thrown at it. There were some complaints of the earlier model being picky about MP4 files, but I didn't see that with this model. The screen is very nice, the highest resolution for any device this size (that I could find).
A couple of issues: The battery indicator is very unreliable. I was watching it closely trying to see how long the battery would last, and after 1 movie it said the battery was 75%, halfway through the 2nd movie it said 66%. But when the battering indicator said 55%, all of the sudden it was empty and I had to plug it in. Another note, it doesn't charge from the USB cable, in fact it continues to drain the battery even if shut off.
Controls are a litte clunky, but really I think it's still a great deal.

I purchased this so my wife could use it to read ebooks and watch videos when we travel. I couldn't figure out how to get the ebooks from PDF to TXT format, so don't buy it for e-books. The video looks and sounds amazing (MP4). Great picture quality whening using it for that purpose.
