There's not really a lot to review with this little guy. It's primary purpose is to cover the mechanism on the RS7 strap that unhooks it. To that end, it works great. Velcro closure and intuitive design. Easy to install. If you have the RS7 and want the extra peace of mind that nobody will be able to come behind you and unhook your strap, then get this. It's not a mandatory accessory by any means, though.

Bought this for my RS-7, you can't tell from the picture but this cover also contains a nylon retaining strap that threads between the buckle itself. It is a must have, only 4 stars because for the price of an RS-7 it should be included, not an add-on.

The BlackRapid straps are great but I didn't like the buckle being on my back. I could see some knucklehead releasing the strap and my camara falling to the ground or worse. This item is more than just a cover. There is a smaller little velcro bit inside that goes inbetween the two buckle halfs. This piece locks the two halfs together so even if the release was squeezed they wouldn't come apart. Then the outside part velcros around the entire buckle making it almost dissapear. Just makes me feel more secure when shooting in an environment I cannot control.

Though I like the advantages of the quick connectors, I do not like the ease in which they can become disengaged. The BUCK-1 protects, and secures that aspect while still making access for future adjustments possible. Nice Job.

This thing is all about risk management. The buckle cover works exactly as intended and is worth every penny considering what it is preventing(your precious camera and lens from taking an awful spill either by accidental or purposeful unclipping). When installed correctly, it pretty much renders the buckle on the back of your strap completely unfuntional and makes the strap seemingly one piece. You can not feel the cover on the buckle when wearing the strap and does not sacrifice comfort or usefulness of the strap in any way.

Anything that will deter, complicate or slow down a theft is appreciated. The cover can prevent an accidental buckle disconnect, as well. Would like to see the manufacturer make a thinner version and use photos, in place of drawings, as these are the only installation instructions. Reccomend installing the cover from the back of the strap; this puts the bulky side of the cover to the outside of the strap.

Simple little item, works great, and not much else to say about it. I use a Black Rapid strap working in and around larger public crowds so when you have thousands of dollars of camera equipment on one strap it is a little bit more insurance.
