The Chrosziel HDSLR Shoulder Support Kit 1 is a DSLR rig that's designed to put a Canon 7D/5D, Nikon D3S, or other DSLR camera on a pair of standard 15mm rods so that it can be positioned on an operator's shoulder and outfitted with accessories such as a follow focus and a matte box. At its center is a 401-421S Lightweight Support System, a baseplate / top plate combo that raises a DSLR to the proper level for attaching accessories and also features an anti-twist piece – an easily twisting DSLR is a prime pitfall of other rigs. Not so with the HDSLR Shoulder Support Kit 1.
The kit also includes a pair of Chrosziel AC-403-10 Handgrips, which attach to the Lightweight Support's standard 15mm rods, and a DV Balancer with Short Shoulder Rod. That piece is a shoulder pad / chest ball assembly that attaches to the back of the lightweight support. All told, the HDSLR Shoulder Support Kit 1 gives you four points of contact with the rig, engendering the maximum amount of stability you can achieve from shoulder-mounted operation. You can achieve balance with just the shoulder pad and ball cushion pressing against your body, while your hands attend to camera settings, for instance.
The Lightweight Support's 15mm rods can accept a follow focus and/or a matte box – the camera riser has put the DSLR at the proper level to attach these accessories to your lens. All the parts of the kit, of course, are modular and adjustable, so if you want to remove, for example, the ball cushion or the shoulder pad, it's a simple matter of twisting a thumbscrew.
