Comments about Buffalo 2TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Hard Drive:
I purchased a Buffalo Linkstation Pro model LS-V2.0LT this week end.
I followed the exact instruction to set up the drive with my Acer Windows 7 system. Once all of the software was loaded I set the backup to do a complete backup. A message was shown that the computer had to be restarted before the backup could be completed. On restart the computer failed to start Windows and displayed a screen that instructed me to pur the Startup disck in the floppy drive (which my computer does not have) and press F2 to continue. At this point I was stuck. Could not access Safe mode or do anything but get to this same screen.
I called Buffalo Technical Support and expalined exactly what happened. They claimed that the issue was with my computer and had nothing to do with their product. As I tried to explaing that it was installing their product that caused this issue they refused to offer anyother help than to tell me to call Acer since it was a computer issue.
I then called Acer and according to their Technical Support the installation of the drive caused a failure with the computer and their only suggestion was to use the restore function to return the system to our of box configuration. There goes all of my data on the computer which is why I bought this drive in the first place. Luckily for me I had all of my critical data on cloud storage.
So after perforimg a full restore on the computer and getting everything running correctly again I made the stupid mistake of trying the Buffalo drive installation again. Identical failure occured. Just for the fun of it I call Buffalo technical support and once again they refuse to admit that their product/software is causing this problem.
If you ar looking for a network drive look somewhere else. This is not the Drive or even the company that you want to deal with!!!

Comments about Buffalo 2TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Hard Drive:
I purchased Buffalo Technology's LinkStation Pro LS-VL when my six year old NAS drive (different company) became obsolete because it released no driver for Windows7. The brand was purchased by Hitachi. On 7/20/11, the company terminated its online service rendering the old product virtually worthless. The LS-VL works as advertised; is fast; and easily set up on my local network. I found setup for web access, however, to be unnecessarily complex and insufficiently explained in printed and online documentation. By calling support, I was able to resolve web access issues. Comments about Buffalo 2TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Hard Drive:
I brought this Network hard drive for ease of access via home network by multiple PC's and access over the internet. Manufacture says easy setup, but that wasn't the case for me. At first my PC would read the drive and then sometimes not. The manual was not all that useful and took many internet searches to finally get the issue sorted. As yet I still haven't got the print server working.
Over all now that the PC is working with the drive I'm happy. A network drive seams to require a little knowledge in setting in up, as apposed to a USB drive. One feature I really enjoy on this drive is the ability to set up power management were you can have the drive turn on and off on set days and times.

Comments about Buffalo 2TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Hard Drive:
[...] the unit came with NovaStor backup. However, the software was not automatically included, but rather I had to request it from the manufacturer. Was told it takes 24 to 48 hours to get the code to be able to download the software. Called numerous times and was told still not done. After 48 hours I was told "oh you should have received the code via e-mail, but if not I can give it to you over the phone". This should have happened way earlier. Furthermore, your sales personnel should have indicated the process. In addition, after using the software for the first time there was a notification that an update was available. However, that again required extensive e-mail correspondence with NovaStor, and I had to send them a copy of the B & H receipt, to get the codes for the upgrade. If Buffalo states that the product comes with a certain software one should not have to jump thru hoops in order to get it.

Comments about Buffalo 2TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Hard Drive:
Bought this unit as a backup drive. Unit has more than adequate data transfer rates. Unit was extremely simple to install/connect. I did not use any of the included software, and have not used any of the special features associated with this unit, so cannot comment on those. Only negative I have is auto shutdown on power loss: UPS support is limited to APC and OMRON; I have a CyberPower UPS and it is not recognized by the NAS.
