Canon really should have included this Hood with the camera, but it is something we will all have to buy on our own as an additional purchase. No physical stores carry this, not even camera stores! So you have to order it online, and B&H had it for a better price than a few other websites I had searched for and found.
Once you understand how this Lens Hood is put on, with a quarter turn and snap so the Canon Logo is on top, it is very easy and quick to remove and put back on. With very little effort.
If you turn the Hood around, so it is backwards, it will still snap on the camera. This way it stores easy and will not get lost, and will not take up any extra space to store in your camera bag, if yours is too small to put the camera in with the hood on forwards.
You can not use the Hood and the lens filter adapter at the same time. However, the lens cap that comes with the camera WILL still snap in place, with the Lens Hood still attached.
In addition to what the Lens Hood is designed to do, the added bonus is that it protects you from hitting the lens glass, and really makes the camera look much more impressive and pro overall.
This is one item you don't want an aftermarket version, because the CANON logo imprint on the top, really shows it is made to be part of the camera.

Does what it was made to do.
Cannot use this Hood with a lens filter which every camera should have! Canon's fault.

Comments about Canon LH-DC60 Lens Hood for SX30 IS and SX40 HS:
The LH_DC60 lens hood is an easly piese of equipment to enstall and is a very valuable addition to your camera. It acts like barn doors of a light, and protects the lens from possible scratches during handled while the lens cover is off. An added bonus,it is not expensive, and it will add a professional look at the same time.
I see no disadvantage to owning this attachment.

Comments about Canon LH-DC60 Lens Hood for SX30 IS and SX40 HS:
In addition to its expected function (shading the lens), this lens hood also protects against knocks and scrapes. It can be reversed for storage in a camera bag, and the camera can be used with it reversed--no need to re-attach it unless it is needed for shading the lens. However, it should be included with the camera. Having to pay extra for it feels like a bit of a rip-off.

Got a new camera for Christmas and was looking for a lens hood as it prevents flares and looks good. My camera is a Canon SX40HS and this fits perfectly. Great product and great fit.

Comments about Canon LH-DC60 Lens Hood for SX30 IS and SX40 HS:
I recently purchased the Powershot SX30 IS camera from Canon, and found to my dismay that it came without the lens hood. (Not the case for the SX10 IS) I'm delighted to say that the lens hood fits well, shields the lens from the sun when shooting outdoors, and for storage, reverses on the lens!

I love to have equipment made to do the job and this hood snaps on and does what it should. If you have a camera that this fits, buy it.

Comments about Canon LH-DC60 Lens Hood for SX30 IS and SX40 HS:
I decided to buy this lens hood after reading how it saved the lens from shattering when other customers dropped their cameras. Also, I have noticed some vingetting around the edges of my photos and learned that I could prevent this by simply adding a lens hood. This one was inexpensive and attached quite easily to my Canon SX30is. I can also still fit the lens cap on without removing it. Unfortunately, I am not able to attach both a lens filter AND this lens hood at the same time, though.

Comments about Canon LH-DC60 Lens Hood for SX30 IS and SX40 HS:
I recently upgraded from the Canon SX10 to the new Canon SX40. At first I was going to re-purpose the lens hood that came with my SX10 but decided to order the new lens hood especially made for the SX40 (and SX30) and let the SX10 lens hood go with the SX10 that was given to our daughter. After receiving the SX40 lens hood (OEM) from B&H Photo one look at it and I realized that the SX10 lens hood was deeper than the SX40 lens hood. The SX40 lens is a 24mm wide angle (35mm equivilent) and the SX10 lens is only a 28mm wide angle. Obviously the SX40 lens hood needed to be a little less deep to accommodate the extra 4mm wide angle of the SX40 lens (when zoomed all the way to maximum wide angle. To anyone contemplating keeping their SX10 or SX20 lens hood to use on the SX40 or SX30...DON'T !!!. You may experience some dark corners of wide angle photos you take when using the older style lens hood.
