Keeps the drive from scratching my laptop when I carry it with my laptop case. The drive itself is pretty tough and the surface is textured, so I'm not concerned that the DVD drive would get scratched. I'm more concerned that my new laptop would get cut up by the device.

This pouch is just that "a pouch. It could use a zipper and a handle of some sort. It keeps the dust off of my DVD R/W but that is about it.

The pouch is soft and fit comfortably around the DVD drive. My only problem was that there wasn't much room for the chord. Besides that, the pouch has no conceivable flaws.
