Designed by Neil Poulton, the LaCie Wireless Space (2TB) juxtaposes a simple and candid design with the complicated machinery of its inner-workings. The unit features a storage capacity of 2TB, affording plenty of room for file storage and backup. The Wi-Fi technology facilitates wireless network-attached storage, letting you access your files from anywhere in the house on any computer. You can centrally store all your music, movies and photos.

The Wireless Space also works well as a router, but with the added benefits of Wi-Fi. You can use it to wirelessly send information to printers, entertainment players and computers throughout the house. Thanks to the Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, you can stream movies from the Wireless Space to any UPnP or DLNA compatible devices. It also works in concert with iTunes, which is perfect for storing and streaming your music library from a central location.

Storing your files in the Wireless Space makes them easy to play on all your devices. It's compatible with several versions of Mac and PC operating systems, as well as Time Machine. Flexible and convenient, the Wireless Space is equipped with three high-speed USB 2.0 host expansion ports and four Gigabit Ethernet ports. The transfer rates for USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet can reach up to 35 MB/s. The interface options for your home network connectivity are Wi-Fi b/g/n 2.4 GHz and Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbits.

He's used the two opposing aesthetics to create a dialogue and breathe some life into an otherwise inanimate object. The polished black finish and blue-glowing LED power-indicator give the Wireless Space a little touch of elegance as well.

Just as LaCie intended, the Wireless Space seamlessly matches form with function. It looks striking, but also affords high-performance transfer rates, Wi-Fi and ample storage capacity. The construction of the case, while based on an emotion, serves as a cooling mechanism as well. The design efficiently dissipates heat and eliminates the need for a cooling fan. Without a fan, operation of the Wireless Space is near-silent. It's this alliance of style and performance that make the Wireless Space an object of desire.
