Comments about Grass Valley EDIUS 6 Editing Software (Upgrade from Previous Versions):
I have been using Edius v3.5 for several years with very good results. v3.5 is rock solid and fast. I decided to upgrade to v6 because of my past experience with the 3.7 version, thinking I'd get better performance. A big mistake! Version 6 is slow and has an overly complicated interface. The manual may be of some help but its over a thousand pages long and has to be downloaded and printed out. A hard copy of the manual is not included with the package. A dongle must be plugged to use the program. Another little complication. I gave up and reinstalled my v3.5.

I use Edius for Web / Demo videos for my company.
It is stable and fast, and can import almost any format I can get my hands on.
Licensing is a bit of a pain with the usb key.

My company uses Edius for Broadcast Television Production. It is very quick to work with, all in real time with no rendering, and handles any format out there. We use P2HD cameras and the work flow with Edius is quick and simple.

Comments about Grass Valley EDIUS 6 Editing Software (Upgrade from Previous Versions):
Upgraded to Edius 6 from version 5. A few improvements were made including a full screen preview option, and additional export options. Over all the program loads faster and is more responsive than version 5. Both versions were very stable for me.
The program remains a strong video editing program. One of the things that unfortunately remains the same is the limited dvd/blu ray menu creation when you utilize the burn to disk option. (You are limited to predefined templates and buttons). The program also still has limited surround sound capabilities. (or if it has the capabilities it is not documented).
Bottom line the upgraded product (version 6) is better, but I would not describe it as a must have upgrade.
