The Bosch DVSA Lite Digital Video Storage Array (4 x 1 TB) uses the RAID 5 protection that safeguards recorded data from being lost due to a disk unit failure. With the 8 bays for hot-swappable 3 GBps HDDs (hard disk drives), the array can function uninterrupted on 1 drive, while another drive is being replaced. The DVSL features 4 hard disks of 1 TB each.
Bosch RAIDWatch GUI, a Java-based RAID management system, is used to manage the DVSA; it simplifies array configuration and enables administrators to deploy, configure, manage, and monitor multiple storage subsystems either locally or remotely through WAN/LAN. An alarm is triggered in case of a failure. The array can constantly update the system managers with its status via a choice of channels, such as LAN broadcast, MSN Messenger, email, fax, SNMP traps, and SMS messages.
The hot-swappable dual speed fan helps reduce system noise. Using a single SCSI interface with no loop-through, the DVSA's cable-free and backplane-based design makes it easy to install and maintain. The Video Storage Array uses a high density 2 HU 19" rack mount chassis, and power is supplied by a 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz power supply.
