To reach ultimate heights in professional inkjet printing consider the super-quality of the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition Inkjet Printer. This printer is set apart from the base Stylus Pro 4900 model with the inclusion of the EFI eXpress RIP which supports professional commercial printing requirements.
This amazing wide-format printer accepts sheet and roll media up to 17"/432mm wide and incorporates the newest professional printing technologies to produce breath-taking photos and artwork. Epson's UltraChrome HDR - the latest generation of pigment ink technology - uses ten colors, including an all-new orange and green to produce the widest color gamut ever from an Epson Stylus Pro printer.
Improving upon earlier models, the Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition incorporates a three-level black ink technology which simultaneously uses black, light black and light light black inks. The results show outstanding gray balance and highlight-to shadow grayscale accuracy plus impressive high density levels and virtually no bronzing. The Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition further improves upon previous models with automatic black ink mode switching - load both photo and matte black inks into the printer and the 4900 will automatically switch from one to the other with minimal ink loss - talk about custom printing!
With an even higher level of ink droplet accuracy than found on previous Epson printer models, the high-precision, ten-channel MicroPiezo TFP Print Head has been enhanced with an exclusive ink repelling coating technology to dramatically reduce nozzle clogging for more printing production with fewer headaches. This, combined with the Epson AccuPhoto HD screening technology, gives you the means to print at an astonishing resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi.
Capable of handling virtually any type of cut-sheet media up to 17"/432mm wide, the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 incorporates a high-capacity paper tray that accommodates up to 250 sheets of plain paper in sizes ranging from letter size sheets to roll media up to 17.0" x 132.0'/432mm x 40 m. The printer conveniently provides different ways to load media, including a front-loading, straight-through path capable of handling media up to 1.5 mm thick and a second, top-loading, single-sheet feeder optimized for fine art paper.
When you are printing large-format photos or artwork the biggest nightmare is waiting - slow production means less profit. The 4900 is a natural solution to the problem - it delivers a 2880 dpi 16.0 x 20.0"/406 x 508mm photo in High-Speed/HS print mode in only 6 minutes, 28 seconds!

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition Inkjet Printer:
I am a nature photographer currently working on a masters degree in fine art. My cameras and lens are the best on the market, giving me the best imagery possible. It only makes sense to have a printer that can convey the best imagery and this is what Epson printers can do. I recieved the printer on a Thursday and in three days produced an 11x14 of a female Summer Tanager. The print left me without words. The color representation was without flaw. This product I expect, will be the final say as I present my fine art for exhibition. I have no complaints, for it is a privilage to own a machine with this capability.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition Inkjet Printer:
This is a printer for serious photographers! It is so big, I needed an additional hand to take out of the box and place on the printer table. Notice I didn't say printer stand.
It isn't difficult to set up. I had it printing within 15 minutes. And that is with the removal of tape, plugging in the power cord, printer cable, adding the roller stem, inserting ink cartridges, initial printer start up, and installation of the printer driver.
I printed an non-post processed photo of Venice, and the results blew me away. The details an colors where incredible.
Other than its size, the price per ink cartridge can be a huge cost, but it is well worth the price for the results you get from this printer.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4900 Designer Edition Inkjet Printer:
Read the online reviews about this printer. Pay attention to the size requirements. It's a BIG printer. Takes 2 people to unload from the box and set up. It really weighs about 100 pounds!
Following the easy setup instructions, the first print from the printer using Apple Aperture was something I could sell. Each print since has been flawless. Get to know about papers, color management and paper handling as each plays a role in getting the print that you want.
I wanted a cover to keep this investment clean and couldn't find one at B&H. PDG carries a cover that fits the 4900 perfectly.
Overall, a very solid and reliable printer that is putting out some incredible prints at all sizes.
