Comments about Cakewalk SONAR X1 Studio - Music Production Software:
I am a musician and song writer. I recently started using Sonar 1X after some other DAW software I owned started bogging down my system. For simple recording, whether midi or live audio, it looks very straightforward; however, underneath there is a very sophisticated music engine. The only downside is the stability. Using Vista x64 with the 64 bit version seemed a bit unstable when using multiple virtual instruments using the plugin manager (Kontakt). This forces the user to constant backup or save projects to prevent loosing data. One recommendation is to purchase a workbook or other reference. From what I've seen so far, there is a dramatic improvement in the 1X version.
