This is a roll of 120 Kodak Professional Portra 400 color negative film. It is a high-speed film that can be used in a wide variety of venues and for a wide variety of purposes. It delivers exceptional color saturation and features fine grain and a high degree of sharpness. With this updated version of Portra, highlight and shadow detail are no problem and, as a result of its excellent T-Grain structure, making large prints is not a problem.
For the portrait or fashion photographer, this is a choice film that produces wonderful and pleasing skin tones. If you prefer landscapes or action shooting, this film works well even when your ambient light level is reduced. In addition, the 400 speed offers you more control of your depth of field.
The advanced technology that goes into this film includes improvement in the cyan and magenta layers as well as an enhanced T-Grain emulsion.
Note! Portra 400 Film replaces the existing Kodak Professional Portra 400NC and 400VC Films

I love the whole Portra line. While the 400 speed doesn't have quite the sharpness of the 160, I wouldn't expect it to. It is sharper, clearer, friendlier and easier to develop than any other high quality 400 speed color film that I've used and with consistently spectacular results. It's not superb in very low light, (in fact, it's not all that great for night photography at all unless you're set up with a tripod and can open your shutter for a half-second or more, unless in urban scenes, and even then still requires a tripod).
I like that in low-daylight and with low light indoor shots I can easily shoot without a flash, get honest colors, great skin tones, and bright looking pictures using only available light without needing a tripod or a shutter speed below 1/30 (or even 1/60 usually).
Portra is terrific film in general, but the versatility of the 400 speed is phenomenal. And if you have a good developer or develop your own negatives, you can easily push this film at 800 or even higher without losing much, if any, quality (and actually I often get quite striking contrasts from pushing this film a bit).
Kudos!

I took 20 rolls of this stuff with me to Hawaii. Normally, I would have gone with NC to do some washed out landscape work, just to do something other then the really poppy, colorful Ken Rockwell photos of the sunrise/sets on Astia. No offense Ken. So, I was going to go 400nc all day, when this "new" portra showed up on B&H. Lured like a total chump by this flashy new product, I opted to try this out instead. The stuff is good, I like it. No complaints, good contrast, blah blah blah. But I cant help but wonder if this new portra- which blends the best traits of NC and VC in one handy film, is here to replace my long time former friends. Kodak? What is going on. Are you outting the NC/VC combination? Film is a niche market- capitalize, not marginalize it. My suspicion is that this new portra will further widdle down our 120 film options leaving us with less options then a non alcoholic beer drinker. Protest this "new" film. Take a stand fellow film photographers. Continue to fight the good fight! Don't take a brain bath.

This film is absolutely flawless. Color accuracy, richness of color, depth of image, and amazing quality film. The best color film on the market is the Kodak Portra series, nothing compares. The 120 is of a good weight, easy to reel and use, and has endless benefits. I highly recommend it!

great 400 ISO film for just about anything. really excels on portraits but still good for nature/scenery shots. Not the most contrast, so pick your shots a little more carefully. Use in FujiFilm medium format camera.

Excellent fine grain fast film in keeping with the other Portra films. I can easily print 30x40 and larger when necessary. I use the 160 and 800 versions as well and they never let me down.

Took this film on a camping trip, no real complaints. ISO 400 is versatile enough to shoot most scenes. Colors seemed less vivid than I imagined, but the photos were printed on matte paper. They'd probably look fine on glossy prints.

Comments about Kodak 120 Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film (One Roll):
I feel in love with the Portra NC emulsion when I received a dozen rolls from Kodak in a promotion a couple years ago. Prior to that, I was shooting their VC line almost exclusively (until Ektar was released on 120). I was a little worried Kodak's changes made to Portra were going to close the door on a great product. After exposing 15 - 20 rolls of this emulsion, I am very happy with it and will continue shooting it.

Comments about Kodak 120 Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film (One Roll):
Shot this film for outdoor portraits in very wide natural daylight. Skin tones were excellent and highlight values were well preserved. Also, deliberately over exposed the film and the highlight values held up well. This film is also very easy to scan requiring very little adjustment. This is a great emulsion!

I use this in my Mamiya C3, and I get what I pay for. Don't let the price scare you, it's cheaper here than most photo stores. Worth getting if you really want the most out of your medium format cameras. Color quality can't be matched by much else in my opinion, at least when it comes to skin tones, and will suit the needs of almost every photographer.
