I have had it about a week and it seems very stable. A solid base for my DSLR without the huge cost of some other tripods I have researched. It is light weight and compact.

Comments about Velbon CX444 Tripod W/3-Way Panhead:
I've used this tripod for about 3 years, since this purchase replaces an identical one that was stolen. I do mostly outdoor shoots - large & small wildlife, birds, scenes, etc. I shoot almost everything from the tripod with a cable release to improve steadiness. It gives solid support for locked down shots and smooth gliding for dynamic tracking shots. I tried another design that was equally low weight, and turned it down, even for free.
For myself, I would be willing to carry twice as much weight in a tripod, at least for short trips; but for full day trips this is a very good size.
