Sometimes less really is more: the GEO POD E44 4-Section Carbon Fiber/Basalt Monopod from Velbon is 2 legs short of a tripod, but you get more speed in setting up shots, more room and space available for lenses, accessories, etc., and more flexibility in where to set up shots. This 4-section support is made of a carbon fiber/basalt composite for added strength and rigidity, and extends from 1.58' (48.2 cm) up to 4.85' (148 cm). The positive lever locks and unlocks the sections very quickly, and the whole monopod weighs just 11.07 oz (314 g). The attached strap and the rubber foot give you a solid support, even on uneven ground.

Great product. I use it for shooting video, with a 701 hdd head on, mainly for outdoor, adventure movie, so the lightness is important. A bit fickle when you put a heavy charge on it, but work great overall. Excellent for run and gun.
