Comments about Plantronics .Audio 476 DSP:
This headset works well, was recognized immediately by my MacPro and appears to be well constructed.
The only negative comment I have is that the headset is still fairly large when folded up so that might be a consideration when traveling or carrying it for the day in a shoulder bag.

Comments about Plantronics .Audio 476 DSP:
I purchased a pair of these Plantronics headsets to upgrade the bundled set that came with my speech recognition software and in particular to use on my laptop. And thankfully they actually have been a real improvement and I am happy that I purchased them. I have tried various other headsets for voice/dictation and these are the best that I've found in that department. While other headsets may pass a Speech Recognition Software Microphone Test these actually produce an even better defined voice quality. For example the built-in USB processing with noise and wide band echo cancellation even filters out the inherent hum in my laptop even when older more expensive USB headsets could not. So their signal-to-noise ratio with regards to both environmental and hardware issues is really very good and as anyone knows who has experience with voice recognition software every little bit helps, so when it comes down to subtle nuances (pardon the pun if you like), I have found these to be the best that I've used in this regard.
To summarize, these are very lightweight, they have a snug fit which keeps the microphone positioned properly (again important for speech recognition) and they fold up very compactly so they're easy to fit in your laptop case and although they are primarily designed for voice (which is even emphasized on the packaging) they are pretty good for audio as well. But the real clincher is their very reasonable price, especially on B & H, and I actually prefer them to another more expensive Plantronics model, the.Audio 400 DSP. Not only do they cost less by a considerable amount they also have a much more stable fit and even better voice quality along with better noise and echo cancellation processing.
So when I got an e-mail from B & H asking me to review my gear I knew it would be a breeze to do so and dictated this whole text with them.
