The Vello 1/4"-20 Camera Screw (2-Pack) provides two screws that can be used to secure your camera to a tripod, attach accessories for a DSLR rig system, or as a replacement for a flash bracket, using the 1/4"-20 thread. Each screw has a 1/4"-20 male thread stud on top, a 1/4"-20 female thread on the bottom and a knurled plastic knob for tightening. Each screw is 11 mm (0.43") long.

So I bought a Chinese flash bracket, works fine except the two screws supplied are junk. One tighten and the one holding the speedlight strips out. On a whim I ordered a set of these and now I can reef down on the screws and they won't break. Thanks B&H....
