For years, news photogs have been running around with sun guns of all kinds weighing them or their cameras down while production guys broke out the light kits. There was the battery belt, the BP90 bag over the shoulder or some other heavy artillery, or you drained your camera battery with your light. Now that LED technology has taken over the light source world, there is no excuse to NOT have a sun gun. The Dimmable LED-70 by Bescor is light, bright and completely portable. You can change filters in a second, use standard AA batteries and have nothing to weigh you or your camera down. Never change or charge sun gun batteries in the middle of a shoot again! Need that extra punch on the face while doing 3 point lighting? Doing a stand up at a press conference and don't have a power source? With full dimming control, you can be as close as you want or light up a room from the other side. Shooting a wedding reception in poor lighting conditions? Pop it on and fire it up! You won't have to change batteries for five more weddings. And it's so much more affordable than the other LED units out there that you can justify buying it for those seldom situations. This unit should be as standard in a camera case as your microphone. Be the envy of the other videographers in the room. I was. Can't leave home without it!

I bought this to replace a 3-watt Sony light that drained my Sony HDR-HC7's battery. The illumination is an incredible step up, while using far less power (and none from my camcorder, thanks to the built-in battery compartment on the light.) However, I did not realize that this light will not fit my camcorder's accessory shoe without an adapter. I haven't bought the adapter yet, because I'm not exactly sure which one I need. It would have been helpful for the product description to point this out. Bescor could make some money if it would offer the adapters. Construction is a bit on the cheap side, but so is the price -- so not a bad compromise, in my eyes.

This lights up the subject well. I used it at night as the only light. It was very handy and I'm glad I had it.

Cheap plastic camera light. Very fragile, use it with care. Good for fill light. Color temperature is 6500K, too cold, but works with CTO gels. Not fully dimmable. Dimmer wheel is flimsy, dimming is not even, electric contact problem. The swivel shoe adapter kit /multi function ball head/ broke after a day of use. Metal part is OK, plastic base is very week.

If you need a lot of light this will work wonders for you! But in a lot of cases it has been too bright for me.

I needed a portable video light to throw on my Xl2 and I needed to get it for cheep. I believe this light and others like it will change the market for LED video lights. Throws off a very bright and clean light over a smooth spread. It does dim but even at its lowest power it's still really bright

I am a novice home movie maker and I like to get gadgets that help my home movies turn out better. This light is nice for the price and for what it is intended to do. It is not very well made but it does the job I need it to do - add some light in low light areas.

What can I say about this product except amazing. I shot some nighttime outside video with my Sony NEX-VG10 around the pool side Tiki bar at holiday in Clearwater Beach Florida for my 35 year high school reunion.
It easily lights subjects at 30 feet away and to a lesser degree all the way out to 50 plus feet. The variable light output makes it perfect for shooting head and shoulder video shots. You can also independently turn on the off the light while maintaining a particular light intensity setting.

I've only had occasion to use the light a few times. It's a great value compared to other brands at a similar output. The dimmer works better than I expected at that price. However, the light is noticeably blue, which you either have to accept upfront or not purchase.

I primarily use this light for weddings although I also use it to add some fill in outdoor shoots. PROS: Cant beat the price and the fact that it uses AA batteries so no more heavy battery pack. CONS: The dimmer doesnt allow to dim the lighy past about 35% (my estimate) and that is problematic in some cases. Looking for a sock or some other diffuser to reduce the light further in certain circumstances. Also, the case seems a bit cheap. Not sure how durable it will be.

The light itself does let you know its not industrial strength however it is of high enough quality that you can show it some abuse. The packaging is simple and the product is pretty much self explanitory. As far as the light ouput, its pretty bright. This is the only led panel I've worked with and it outdid my expectations. It doesn't throw the light wide enough for my crop sensor and sigma 10-20 @10mm. But it fills about 15mm+ well. I haven't given it a fair amount of use yet but can tell even if it breaks, for the price ill keep buying this product.

Bought this light to use for interviews when traveling.
The amount of light is quite well, but the filter system is very flimsy.
The entire body is made of plastic, so it doesnt feel very though, and it probably isnt.
Out of the box it doesnt fit the hot-shoes on my sony ex-3, so I have to make som adjustments to make it fit. It does fit the hot shoe on my canon 7d well.

I use this light on a tripod as a "fill flash". This way I needn't worry about a slave flash not firing.
The mounting & case don't look very robust, but are holding up well enough.

I used this light to shoot interviews during a Bar Mitzvah party sailing around Manhattan at night. It's perfect for interviews. The batteries lasted about 4 hours before I started to notice them starting to dim. It's plastic so be careful but for the price it's great.

This inexpensive LED is good for fill light when shooting video up to 10 feet away. The unit "feels" cheap and sort of flimsy, but it seems to work OK. I struggled to figure out how to put in the AA batteries, you have you really look close to see which way they go in.

Comments about Bescor LED-70 Dimmable 70W Video & DSLR Light:
I needed a light for video with my Canon 5D Mark II. Considered the new Canon flash w LED, but didn't really yet a another flash (mid-range) for what portable continueous low-heat lights would do (for me) and be a nice gizmo in the bag on the fly.
On the video size, good enough power for me for the range I needed -- interview length+. I wanted something with dimmer control... viola. It works, but on full power, there is a hiss... I haven't done any testing to see how much gets picked up, but beware if that is a concern. I'd avoid this one if it is as I am sure any audio device with its metal will detect. Most of my use will be for stills and creative lighting on-the-go, so, not a big deal for me at present.
For the price, I thought it should be a bit better constructed as it's A bit flimsy to me. I bought two, I am content. Does what I expected, except for not being silent on full power.
3 stars due to hiss, and construction.
