Fujifilm's Instax Mini 50S Instant Print Camera (Piano Black) brings a party along with it--the Mini 50S takes a picture and gives you a 2.4 x 1.8" (62 x 46mm) color print right away, using Fujifilm Instax Mini instant film. This sleek piano-black camera adjusts the shutter speed automatically between 1/3 and 1/400 second to give you great results, even in low light. The built-in flash balances automatically with the background light for pleasing photos, and the self-timer lets you take two shots with a single touch of the shutter button. A close-up function focuses to as close as 11.8" (30 cm) from the lens, for 2:1 magnification ratio. Three shooting modes (Auto, Fill-in Flash, and Landscape) are available. A Light/Dark function gives you +/- 2/3 f-stop compensation. Power is provided by two CR2 batteries.
- Self-Timer mode allows you to create two photos with the single press of the shutter. Enjoy instant photos with friends or that special person in your life.
- The high-performance flash mode automatically calculates surrounding brightness and adjusts shutter speed accordingly--excellent for photos at parties with subdued lighting and other low-light scenes.
- The close-up lens allows you to shoot from a distance up to 1' (30 cm) away so you can take great photos of beautifully arranged and colorful party food, cakes, etc.
- With instant prints, you can write your own personal message directly below the photo image.

It just seems so easy to shoot everything and then I end up with a hard-drive full of photographs that becomes a chore to look through them. I bought the Fuji Instax 200 wide and my mojo was back. Instant Photographs again and although it looks like "my first camera" it is such a topic of discussion wherever I take it and everyone always wants to take the prints home, but it is quite bulky and hard to carry around all night.When I came across the mini 50s I knew I wanted it. It looked more sleek, stylish, smaller (but I knew the film was smaller too) and it also has a very retro feel to it when the lens comes out. Looking around the internet the prices range dramatically and some websites are looking for $400. After I seen it [...] and their great reviews and write up from real customers I ordered it straight away. Great Price [...]The camera is small, easy to carry, very unique and you are able to take great photographs instantly. My only grumble so far is that the dual photograph feature doesn't quite work like I thought it would, but I am sure I will get the hang of it.Buy it.

I bought this camera to serve as a photobooth substitute for an event. Be warned, the images are TINY -- think passport photo size, not credit card size, since there is a substantial white margin around the edge.
I tried ballpoint, permanent, and gel ink and none could write on the white space below the photo.
The lens has a pretty wide angle. For an adult human, you would have to be about 1.5' away to get a head shot (and that would include shoulders as well).
There is some vignetting (darkening) at the corners, particularly with the close-up lens. The flash always goes off, even in landscape mode.
The film is sharp and has a fine grain, but it takes a long time for the colors to fully come up (think an hour) to full contrast. Until then, the colors will look washed out.
It will work for the event, but I'm not sure I would buy it again.

simple & straightforward, anybody can make correctly exposed/in focus pics with this one. the credit card size prints are sure to please, and for the very young, this sort of imaging is magical. little kids at a party will flip out seeing the latent image develop before their eyes! bring extra film, they'll want more than one shot, guaranteed!

I have found this instant camera very easy to use. It is light and not a hassle to take around. I have found myself having to get used to and understand the lighting techniques to achieve a well balanced photo, but that does not really have anything to do with the quality of the product really. It would be great though, if it had a real time viewer so that you could see what you were capturing and what the lighting was like.
Nonetheless, for what it is, I find it a great little instant camera that produces some really nice photos. Take in mind that the images are not of the quality of let's say a $4000 DSLR camera.
It is a fun camera and great if (like myself) you like creating photo diaries/albums.

Great, easy to use camera for those who don't want to bother getting their film developed and printed. The images come out very crisp and clean, and the package comes with a close-up lens that you can pop on top of your lens.
Note that the ISO of the film is 800. On really bright, sunny days there's a chance that it will be overexposed. The camera has light/dark settings so that you can compensate, but it takes a few tries to get it right.
One thing about the price: buy it here. B&H has the best price for this particular model. Other retailers have it for as high as $280 - outrageous.

I'm a big scrapbooker and bought the Instax 50s to get instant shots to spice up my creative work and i LOVE it! It's easy to use and provides small prints that are amazingly clear and good quality. My only gripe is that the "macro" lens does not work at all and when taking shots at the suggested 30cm distance from the object, what comes out on the pic is tiny and definitely NOT macro. Any closer than 30cm, the outcome is blurry and out of focus.
The price of film does add up quickly so you have to be exact on what you're trying to capture or you'll be wasting about $1 per shot!
Other that that, I'm a happy camper with this camera! =)

We bought this camera for our DIY photo booth at our wedding. The camera was a HUGE success. We set it up on a tripod with a basket of extra film and a bunch of props and our friends and family had a blast. We were worried that the limited number of films per load (10) would deter people, since film would have to be frequently reloaded; however, the film loading was apparently easy and people seemed to have no trouble at all. We had a blank album that we filled with photo mounting corners so guests could slip their photos in and write a message, and the whole set-up worked beautifully. Photo quality was good in day light and at night. Great value for the price of the camera! We're looking forward to bringing this camera with us to parties for years to come.

Perfect for everything I need. Really a beautiful camera (like a shiny new car). Easy to use. Indoors shots look great (clear, not washed out) without having to adjust anything (although there is a lighten/darken button). I was choosing between this one and the 7s. I'm really glad I went with the 50s. It's definitely a camera I can be proud of. Small and manageable. I'm going to try to figure out how to get/rig lens attachments (color filters and fisheye) so that I can have the same flexibility as I would with the 7s. B&H has one of the best prices around. Love the Instax 50s!! Its a lot of fun to take photos and my friends definitely enjoyed it when we go on outings. great to have on special events and parties.Its very easy to use. The glossy piano black colour is very stylish. It was smaller than I expected it to be which is good, it fits easily in any small handbag/bag. The photos are credit-card size so it fits perfectly on wallets. I guess the only down size of having the small photos is that its difficult to get a clear scanned image of it.It came with a macro lens which isnt too bad. I'm still trying to make it work. I have been using this for a month and it works really great for gatherings and parties. The color of the print is consistent and accurate, and it also able to capture the background color. The self-timer really useful at times where there is no people and you just need to place a tripod.

I use this to mostly take photos of people, which come out gorgeous! :) The colors are amazing, and the fact that it's a polaroid gives it a charming/whimsical feel.My only complaints are that sometimes, the photos are not exactly centered (when you take photos from closer up). Also, I wish there were more accessories for this (like the Helga lenses pack for the 7s!).

Ive always been a diehard poloroid fan, so this camera really caught my eye! I bought this camera to use during a trip to NYC! It worked perfectly!! Very clear, colorful shots! The credit card size photos fit perfectly in my NYC moleskin! I love that the film isn't super expensive, the batteries are easy to find & don't require any charging and I especially love instant gratification!

This was a for fun purchase. It is what it is...a polaroid, so I wasn't expecting the dSLR quality I'm used to:) Indoor shots are not the greatest. I can't turn off the flash, and this results in over exposed faces, that deer-caught-in-the-headlights look. My solution was to cut a piece of gallon milk jug plastic and glue it down using two tiny glue dots (dry adhesive), right over the flash. This results in softer light. I also wish that this model would be offered in the more retro white like the 25.

I receive this item yesterday just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Had a mishap of dropping this and having the batteries pop out and the round piece where the photos exit fall off so BE CAREFUL. Lost a few shots too because the fiance and I still couldn't remember which button was the shutter button. All in all I have been happy with this camera. Amazing that people are wicked shocked to see instants these days.
