View Similar ItemsThe Teradek Cube-120 1 Channel HD-SDI Encoder (Built-in WiFi) is a camera-top wireless HD video encoder which is ideally suited for on-set video monitoring as well as full-scale film production. Eliminating the complexity of VTR (Video Tape Recorder) rigs and camera tethering for long dolly moves as well as running footage, the Cube-120 offers a lightweight (0.43 lb / 0.19 kg), compact (2.5 x 3.5 x 0.9" / 63.5 x 88.9 x 22 mm), and low power (2.5W) HD-SDI video encoding solution.
You can use the Cube-120 for input resolutions of 1080p/PsF, 1080i, 720p, and 480i. Downscaling to lower resolutions is possible via a built-in scaler that allows output streaming resolutions of 1080p/PsF, 1080i, 720p, and 480p. You can achieve Blu-ray output video quality and H.264 High Profile Level 4.1 video compression at bit rates of 250 Kbps to 10 Mbps. The Cube-120 typically exhibits a latency of 1/8-1/2 second.
You are provided with a 1/8" Stereo TRS Line Level input and embedded stereo capabilities for HD-SDI. Also integrated into the Cube-120 are AAC-LC and MPEG Layer 2 Audio compression standards.
Direct streaming to decoding devices such as a laptop or iPad is offered via the ad-hoc networking mode which eliminated the need for any other intermediary equipment. Wi-Fi based network distribution (LAN/WAN/Internet) of the Cube-120's IP video stream is provided via the infrastructure network mode that supports TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, DHCP, NTP, SSL, IGMP protocols.
You can easily configure and control the Cube via a feature-rich UI. Rail system, cage, hotshoe, or camera baseplate mounting options are available for use with the encoder. You can use the Cube-120 with RED ONE, Arri Alexa, Panavision Genesis, Canon 5Dii, Canon 7D, and other handy cams.

Comments about Teradek Cube-120 1 Channel HD-SDI Encoder (Built-in Wi-Fi):
Use with RED one MX digital cinema camera to transmit wirelessly to my MacBookPro and iPad.
This works very well, is very small, draws very little power from the camera and has very good wireless range.
With the software it makes files on the MBP each time you press REC on the camera, making it possible to review shots. These are H264 QT files.

Comments about Teradek Cube-120 1 Channel HD-SDI Encoder (Built-in Wi-Fi):
This product is great to use connected to a RED One camera (and future EPIC) as with these cameras the CUBE 120 allows for HD H.264 Proxy Recording, or wifi distribution to iPads and iPhones using air video server. Like this my Director and two more heads of Department are able to watch the shot as it happens (all be it with a slight latency) and then review at their own leisure the shot. The CUBE in conjunction with the soon to be released software from LightIronDigital, called LIVE PLAY tm, is gonna be a revolution in filmmaking.

Comments about Teradek Cube-120 1 Channel HD-SDI Encoder (Built-in Wi-Fi):
The Cube is not a normal wireless video transmitter. It does much more, once you get use to all the software and IT stuff. The guys at Teradek assured me that the will be making it easier to use and the new software adds cool features as well. It does have a delay of a 1/4 second or so, but I've become used to that. Being able to stream to an iPad, and live to the internet at the same time, is great. I don't own a Red but the Proxy Recording looks cool. With the new OPlayer the iPad latency is less than 1/4 sec ! There is no audio on OPlayer but that does not concern me. And the size, and weight are better than anything else I know of. I think this is great for video monitoring. I would have loved balanced audio instead of line level inputs. Built quality is superb. Video quality is great.

Merchant response: Manufacturer's reply:
The Cube-120 is meant for professional SDI cameras, and will never work for home movies. The claim that it only worked for 6 hrs is disconcerting, but we have no record of anything like that in our support from other customers. In the rare cases that Cubes do fail we have a advance replacement policy and have never abandoned a customer with a dead unit.
