The Teradek Cube-220 1 Channel HDMI Encoder (Built-in Wi-Fi) is a camera-top wireless HD video encoder which is ideally suited for on-set video monitoring as well as full-scale film production. Eliminating the complexity of VTR (Video Tape Recorder) rigs and camera tethering for long dolly moves as well as running footage, the Cube-220 offers a lightweight (0.43 lb / 0.19 kg), compact (2.5 x 3.5 x 0.9" / 63.5 x 88.9 x 22.8 mm) and low power (2.5W) HDMI video encoding solution.
You can use the Cube-220 for input resolutions of 1080p/PsF, 1080i, and 720p. Downscaling to lower resolutions is possible via a built-in scaler that allows output streaming resolutions of 1080p/PsF, 1080i, 720p, and 480p. You can achieve Blu-ray output video quality and H.264 High Profile Level 4.1 video compression at bit rates of 250 Kbps to 10 Mbps. The Cube-220 typically exhibits a latency of 1/8-1/2 second. You are provided with a 1/8" Stereo TRS Line Level input and embedded stereo capabilities for HDMI. Also integrated into the Cube-220 are AAC-LC and MPEG Layer 2 Audio compression standards.
Direct streaming to decoding devices such as a laptop or iPad is offered via the ad-hoc networking mode which eliminated the need for any other intermediary equipment. WiFi based network distribution (LAN/WAN/Internet) of the Cube-220's IP video stream is provided via the infrastructure network mode that supports TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, DHCP, NTP, SSL, IGMP protocols.
You can easily configure and control the Cube via a feature-rich UI. Rail system, cage, hotshoe, or camera baseplate mounting options are available for the cube. You can use the Cube-220 with Arri Alexa, Panavision Genesis, Canon 5Dii, Canon 7D and other handy cams.

I use this product at live events to transmit hdmi video over wifi from cameras that are roaming cameras.
With some tweaking, I was able to get the latency so low that I could project the video onto two 9x12 screens in real time. The audience didn't even notice the latency, and the audio sync was perfect.
Latest firmware includes direct to livestream.com streaming over wifi... Have used that several times. Video quality is fantastic!
Guessing previous reviewer just didn't know how to use the cube, or call customer support.
Love this little box.
When wirecast starts to support it, I'll be getting two more!!

Merchant response: The Cube is a paradigm shift in video production. In short, Cube combines a HD broadcast encoder with a cameratop wireless transmitter. Using a H.264 1080p encoder with built in CAT5 and 802.11 WiFi connectivity, the Cube offers exiting new workflow options in film production, ENG, live event coverage, worship or corporate communication. The Cube is an ever evolving platform and already offers the following functionality:
* Live streaming 1080p HD video to a Cube decoder for onset monitoring (with as little as 0.1 sec delay)
* Live streaming to any laptop, or many laptops simultaneously, for e.g. onset monitoring or corporate communications (0.25 sec delay)
* Live streaming to an iPad/iPhone (< 0.5 sec delay)
* Live streaming to the Internet, using tunneling, thereby making Cube agnostic of firewalls, private IP addresses, ports etc.
* Live stream direct to a popular CDN, livestream.com, for immediate worldwide viewing
* MPEG-TS makes it compatible with broadcast infrastructure, modern set top boxes, and 1080p H.264 High Profile video means it's Blu-Ray quality.
* Proxy recording from cinema cameras allows instant dailies in HD, that can be reviewed within seconds, on many laptops or iPads.
* Free management and viewing software TeraCentral included, can be run from a USB stick or installed.
All of these functions work over built in LAN, and WiFi or 4G on supported models.
