The eGo Helium Portable Hard Drive from Iomega is an excellent way to take your information with you on the go. The hard drive packs 1TB of storage space into a compact and lightweight body. I didnt blink twice before acquiring this hard drive from Iomega, because I live very far away and couldnt bet my money on surprises. So I relied in my previous Iomega experiences with robust hardware and longterm functioning. Indeed this hard drive worked just fine with my seven-year-old Dell notebook running WinXP, but the second computer I connected it into (Win XP, corporate desktop) just wouldnt recognize it. You can only hear a sound that maybe is the disk starting to run, again and again... forever. In the third computer, a newly acquired Acer netbook running Win 7, the same sound repeats 2 or 3 times before the hard disk will run. Result: I just dont feel like its a good idea to rely on it for ONE TERABITE of important information...

I purchased this hdd by mistake. I meant to order the Iomega Helium and didn't catch the eGo designation with this hdd. It is a decent drive. Very lightweight. I do think the hardware encryption and aluminum case of the Helium makes it worth the extra price over this eGo Helium.

I used the Mac-specific disk for backing up files from my internal hard drive. It is inadudible, and has twice survived a 18-in fall to a hard surface (as expected from manufacturer specs). The transfer speed meets my needs. Well worth the price. It requires use of only one USB port, unlike some portable HDs that require us of two ports.

I love the size and look of the drive. I just upgraded my MacBook to Snow Leopard. When I connected the drive to copy files, after a few minutes, it spontaneously ejected. This happened several times. I ran a disk utility and that seemed to solve the problem, but have been traveling and haven't had a chance to see if that truly solved the problem. I really want to like this drive and want it to work, so I'm hoping that this did the trick.

Using it with my macbook air. No installation required, just plug it in and go. The disk came mac-ready so no reformatting was needed. It's very quiet, fast, doesn't get hot at all. Received it the very next day after placing the order!! The only thing that could be better is the USB cable, which is a little too short, but since it's a portable drive, I shouldn't mind that. Great value for a little price!

i got this to transfer files between my workplace & home office. (i was using a flash drive at the the time and round out of disc space.) the eGo is very light and small (not much larger than an iphone), and has a fast transfer rate, plus it looks great. i wish i had known about this product a while back when i purchased some other bulky 1 TB hard drives for backups of my home office systems, because this is so much better in both writing speed, and portability, plus it just looks better and sleeker on my desktop. i will most likely replace my bulkier drives with this to save space & improve portability.

I found that this hard drive is very easy to setup. I just plugged in with the supplied USB and it seamlessly started working with Time-machine. I primarily use it with my Macbook, so it's not plugged in all the time. It doesn't get hot as do some other hard drives when I've had it plugged in all day. The only gripe I have with it, is that the enclosure is plastic, but overall well worth the money.

I am a photography student and bought this drive to hold all the many photos taken for my class assignments and transport them back and forth to school to edit and print. I had been using multiple thumb drives and it became a pain to keep track of what photos were on which drive. This solved all those problems. Also, I am a Mac user and all the computers I use at school are also Macs. This drive required no formatting and works like a dream with the Mac. Highly recommended!!
