Comments about Haier BDP1 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black):

I did a lot of comparing before I bought I Blu-ray player. I was very pleased from what I read on the Haier Website. I purchased the Blu-ray player and also purchased a Blu-ray movie; brought it home and I could get the remote to work. I tried different batteries, but nothing worked. The worst part about it is that you CAN NOT work/control the player without the remote! I contacted Haier customer service and they were no help. I tried universal remotes and I can't find a code that works. What a piece of JUNK!!! I should of invested the extra $40 and got a Sony!!! Don't waste your money on the Haier Blu-ray player or any Haier product!!!!

Comments about Haier BDP1 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black):

I purchased this BR player because of its format compatibility. it plays most of my XVID/DIVX movies, and has an awesome USB port in front which saves me from burning discs.

Comments about Haier BDP1 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black):

What I actually ordered from B&H Photo & Video was a Haier blu-ray player that could stream Netflix (the Haier BDP-100). What I got instead was the DBP1 blu-ray player with "BD-LIVE," a totally useless feature that basically allows the producers of the blu-ray discs to stream advertising to you. I'd love to complain about it and say it was a waste of money... but despite the fact that it wasn't what I ordered, it was a good value for the price. The player performs perfectly and provides an excellent picture through the HDMI connection. The setup menus are easily navigated and fairly complete. The DVD upconversion is EXCELLENT, and breathes new life into my old DVDs. I do not see any way that this product is "upgradeable," but maybe that will appear later. (Probably not.)
