Comments about Rosco 3 x 6" LitePad Axiom (Daylight):
ok. first off there are hardly any reviews out there of these litepads, so here ya go:
Construction of the axiom housing is beautifully durable, but so user friendly to get off (talking tiny little screws here). When you hold this thing in your hand you can tell that it's money well spent.
It comes with the grip plate, which they fail to mention in the description, but is a pleasant surprise. UNFORTUNATELY the plate does not fit SNUG in place and has wiggle. Now this shouldn't be a problem if you're mounting this a relatively motionless station. However, for on board lighting this is an automatic deal breaker for me. My rig cannot have any wiggling or loose parts. It just can't. I must say, I loved the way this thing looks with my camera.
UNFORTUNATELY the battery holder/bracket does not fit comfortably onto the 3x6 litepad. It looks awkward and kind of hangs off, this is because it affixes to the grip plate only. That's the second deal breaker for me, even though I planned to power it with my Switronix, the battery option is still a luxury I cannot afford to be without.
Aside from that, this is a great product, well built and looks attractive. I bought this litepad for it's FORM and not for FUNCTION. This is a very soft light that acts a small fill or spot (with accessory). But still, the light produced is beautiful light with no color change, green, or flickering or anything!
I bought this thing because: Lightweight, very thin, low power consumption, and the fact that the light will not BLIND your subjects. A problem that many overlook, but some of the LED lights out there are just painful to look into.
All in all I returned it, but I do plan on buying another one (next size up though) however the grip plate issue has put this at the bottom of my wish list.
