The Hub4 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Hub from LaCie is a four-port USB 3.0 hub, intended for use with Windows PCs. The hub can also be used with Mac systems, although at slower USB 2.0 speeds as Mac OS X does not offer native support for USB 3.0 devices. Using the hub allows you to connect up to four devices to a single port on your computer.
The powered hub is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices alike. You can mix and match devices of different interfaces, and even plug the hub into a computer that only supports USB 2.0 when necessary. Please keep in mind that the hub will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbps) when attached to a USB 2.0 host.

This hub connects 4 2TB hard drives to my Media Computer and Gigabit network. It was a simple setup, looks clean, all the cables are in the back, out of sight and out of the way. Transfers 4 to 6 GB files in a couple of minutes.
Con: Hub and drives MUST be turned on after windows is running NOT BEFORE! Before a restart, use Windows to shut down drives then turn them off and turn off hub. If the hub is on, Windows will not start.

I have a 2007 15" MacBook Pro. I bought LaCie's ExpressCard USB 3.0 adapter and it could not give enough power to a 1TB Toshiba USB 3.0 portable drive that I bought at [@]s. So I had hoped that using a LaCie USB 3.0 Hub that was powered would be able to provide enough power to run the drive. It does not. Also, I tried to connect my iPhone through the hub as well, and iTunes could not recognize it. However, in all fairness, that is probably an Apple issue.

My computer has only 2 USB3 ports. I plan to add more external hard drives, so I'll need more ports. The first one is so effective, all the cables are hidden behind the unit. The LEDs are in front to tell at a glance what has connected. The speed for transferring large 4GB to 8Gb files is high on my gigabit network and USB3 connected drives.

All USB 3.0 drivers are most recent. Hub when connected to USB 3.0 port will lock the system won't boot. B&H great on return.

On the plus side, it worked okay for my Lacie external 3.0 hard drive. On the minus side -- BIG minus side -- it would not recognize a single one of my 2.0 devices (speakers, iPod, mouse), all of which worked fine with a 2.0 hub. Oh, and it's ugly as sin. Ugly, and essentially useless.

I like to duplicate office environment with the home office environment. Use mainly USB 3 peripherals and this seemed to be the answer. Therefore, I bought two. One for office, one for home. One works, one doesn't.

Used to extend the USB 3.0 ports of my PC. I plugged it in and it just works. It is small and unobtrusive. I don't even think about it as it just works. It is the best USB port I have purchased.

Cannot plug into computer until it has started or will freeze at initial screen. Talked with LaCie tech support who confirmed the issue. They told me to go into setup to reorder start sequence. Needs a firmware fix I was told.
