The Live! Cam Socialize HD AF from Creative is a solid webcam for taking photos, recording video, or video chatting. If you are just taking photos, the webcam will produce them at an interpolated 10 megapixels. For recording video or chatting online, the camera captures up to 30 frames a second at a resolution of HD 720p. To ensure high-quality video all around, this webcam utilizes a wide-angle lens to provide a wider field of vision than many other webcams. Working in tandem with this lens is also an autofocus technology that automatically adjusts the lens' focus to ensure that video is sharp and never blurry or fuzzy. In addition, the webcam features a built-in noise cancelling microphone. It removes ambient noise so that the audio you intend to record or stream is clear.
While the webcam is USB plug-and-play with Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems, Windows users also can utilize Creative's included free Live! Central 3 software. Conveniently, this software allows you to share your HD video or pictures on Facebook or YouTube with just a click of a button. You can also morph your own voice or add avatars, fun face effects, and doodles to your streaming video.
With this software, you receive Creative's Movie Creator software, which allows you to add visual effects, transitions, overlays, and more to your recorded videos. As just one more added bonus, users who have touchscreen-enabled Windows 7 PCs can utilize the Live! Central 3 touch screen interface for more quickly sorting through files. The wide camera lense is great, and the quality of the video of itself is also pretty good. Picture taking and video recordings however, are mediocre. It works great for skyping and webcamming in general, though so I'm happy with my purchase. The mic on it is decent as well.
The only con I can really think of is the auto-focus. Sometimes it blurs as if it's trying to focus (randomly when it's already focused), and stays blurred until I restart the cam session.
That's not a huge deal though because it doesn't occur often enough to be a huge bother.
I'd recommend this product to others.

Bought the web cam to communicate with my daughter via SKYPE's video calling as I am constantly traveling for my job. I connected the web cam to my daughters MAC Mini computer, experienced no problems with the installation. Camera worked flawlessly with MAC OS Snow Leopold and SKYPE
