Even if you choose to use your Ledzilla mainly with an Anton Bauer / SWIT battery with your EX1R, there will be one day you will have to shoot without time or possibility to change the battery of the camera. Moreover, you may also choose to separate your Ledzilla from the EX1R in order to achieve better lighting, independant from camera's movements. In both cases you'll appreciate to have this adapter and the possibility to use standard Sony BPU batteries.

This item works, and allows you to use your EX1 an EX3 batteries to power the light, or Swit and others with this mount type (although, with the third party solutions, you must hook the dc adapter into female dc socket on the camera - or the camera will report "Battery Error."

The Ledzilla comes with the Sony battery shoe for the older Sony battery type 970's etc, and the price is far cheaper to use these batteries than the EX3/1 Sony BPU batteries, as a package deal from B and H. So if you are not using an EX3/1 do not buy this product, buy the shoe/Ledzilla combo for the NPF Sony battery types instead.

The price for this piece of plastic is inflated, and drives up the price of Ledzilla lighting considerably to over the cost of the base Ledzilla. However this light is really great, and superior to the Z-90 Zylites, no double shadows, barn doors that feather properly, even spread ... so when you look at the big picture, it is still worth getting but you do feel that you are being gouged by Dedo on this. And Dedo should be fairer with the pricing of all its accessories. It's crazy what they want for these.
