Giottos' VGR9265-M2C Aluminum Tripod/Monopod W/QR Ballhead boldly goes forth exploring a new frontier that any photographer will cheer--designing a solid professional tripod that folds down to a manageable size. This aluminum support will extend to 5.54' (1.69 m), but its minimum working height is little more than a foot--16" (40.64 cm), and it folds down to 16.5" (41.9 cm). Although it weighs just 4.3 lbs (1.95 kg), it can support up to 13 lbs (5.89 kg). The included quick-release ballhead has bubble levels and is Arca-compatible.
Plus, one leg of the tripod combined with the center column converts to a monopod that extends to 5.77' (1.76 m) and collapses to 30.8" (78.23 cm). The 5 tripod leg sections use a quick twist-lock design, and the tripod accepts optional accessory spiked feet for use on rough terrain.

Comments about Giottos VGR9265-M2C Aluminum Tripod/Monopod W/QR Ballhead:
The build quality is very sturdy and strong, but is suprisingly light. Twist locks have a nice rubber grip, and slide smoothly. Also has retractable spikes at the feet. Option to convert to monopod is convenient. Folds up to nearly half the size of my old tripod. Legs have 3 tilt positions, and the locking lever is heavy duty. My favorite part is the head. The knobs are very easy to use.. very smooth, and are metal which feels like quality. QR plate is nice with the cork inserts. Came with very nice travel bag, shoulder strap included, and a small tool pouch inside. I would definately buy Giottos again.

Comments about Giottos VGR9265-M2C Aluminum Tripod/Monopod W/QR Ballhead:
This is my first tripod so I spent a great deal of time looking at ALL of the products in my price range. I wanted a versatile, easy to use but dependable tripod. The ball head brings versatility; I've been shooting a lot of verticals. It has a simple but effective quick release mechanism. The tripod is light but sturdy. I prefer these locking mechanisms to the wing variety. It sets up quickly and folds into a transportable package that will fit in any carry-on. By the way, it comes in its own bag with a shoulder strap. I wanted a travel tripod that could do the heavy lifting as well. It easily converts into a monopod and the black is sharp! I shoot with a Nikon D7000 and there is no play even with the 300mm. It's nice when the research pays off and you get exactly what you wanted.
