The Philippe Starck designed LaCie 500GB Starck Mobile USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive is efficacious in producing quick data transfers from anywhere your laptop can go. I like it, I have the 2.0 and thought it would be the same.
Unfortunately the 3.0 wire is not connected with the hard drive itself, its a seperate wire. I guess thats the only downfall I see so far.

This is a very well designed portable hard drive with USB 3.0 interface. It is compact, fast and runs nearly silently. It was instantly recognized when connected it to my computer running Windows 7 that is not equipped with USB 3.0. In spite of that the transfer speed is very good even with USB 2 interface.

I bought this hard drive for it's durable aluminum casing and great design. I also wanted a hard drive that is quiet and doesn't require a power supply. I was looking for something solid that I could carry with me at all times and not worry too much. LaCie Starck feels very solid, thanks to the aluminum casing that keeps the drive safe and cool. The transfer rates are relatively fast. I'm satisfied with this hard drive.
