So it was time to get a "grown-up" tripod, as the box store bought one i had been using for my DSLR just wasn't cutting it and after much research, i settled on Manfrotto's 290 series and the 294 in particular. It is a bit on the heavy side, but it is sturdy and opens up to a height where i don't have to bend over to see through my view-finder (unless i want to). Overall, this is a good solid, well built peice of equipment that i'm sure to have for years to come.

Weekend hobbyist who shoots is many environments. Good steady tripod for my Canon 7D. Construction is solid and workmanship is the quality I would expect from Manfrotto. Not too heavy to carry around all day. Very pleased with the purchase.
