From my PC it looks like just another hard drive on the network. Put some music on it in separate folders by bandname--some CDA format, some MP3. Put some movies on it in folders with the movie's name--a couple of downloaded movies in AVI format and a couple of ripped DVDs with typical Video_TS and Audio_TS subfolders. Viewing it on the TV (through my A/V Receiver) all I see are song/movie titles listed in correct audio or video categories. It auto sorts into applicable categories based on filename extensions! You can flag favorites and do lots of iPod type tasks. Audio and Video performance is beyond expectation. No degradation in quality from original source. File format doesn't matter.
A ripped DVD-Audio disk of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery (designed and recorded for 5.1 sound capabilities and with audio actually stored in the Audio_TS subfolder!) played flawlessly.
Getting it up and running on a network can be trying for less than techno geeks, but once its up, novices will have no problem playing it at the TV/entertainment center. And, the Hub is compatible with the Logitech Harmony 700 universal remote.

Bought if for my son as a gift. Thought he would enjoy the new interphase and higher quality video that I had experienced on the hub I installed on my entertainment center.

Comments about Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Network Media Player:
The new interphase is great! Video and music stream quite well from the hub and accessing from different rooms is quite neat. PlayOn plugins and scripts work nicely and the graphic interphase makes it pleasing to the eye and easy to find links. The change to a more standard size remote took some getting used to after using the other size for a few years. Great addition with the mute button. Lot's more likes..... especially ease of installation and automatic connection to the router.

Comments about Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Network Media Player:
I purchased this so that I can play back my videos from the HD instead of a DVD which is prone to skipping and other issues. What the sales person neglected to tell me is that there is a play screen line and some text (subtitles off audio 1 aac) which show up on your screen after you hit play for 5 seconds. So for home use this would be fine but totally not for event video playback. (I called WD tech support they told me there is no way to disable the output of that)

Excellent image quality. Easy to setup. Nice random slide show as well. I wish I could use a wireless keyboard with it as web navigation with the remote control is difficult.

The Hub is well connected, relatively easy to use and operate, great size (not too big or too small), can play a lot of video and audio format. Its built-in 1TB drive, it has additional USB if you want to play off another drive. Love it.

Comments about Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Network Media Player:
The Western Digital WD TV Live Hub is the best player yet from the company. It's faster than ever, sleek, integrates really powerful Internet content and manages to make Facebook on the TV actually useful. The WD TV Live Hub is a really nice piece of TV equipment. Not outstanding, but nice. With a few tweaks - easily made via firmware updates - it could be a very powerful little box. It may never have the ability to run applications (and WD became pretty cagey when questioned whether they're working on a GoogleTV-powered WD TV Live player...which means yes) but what it does, it does well, and that's not so bad.

Very useful product. Tons of videos, songs and photos inside the 1TB Hard Drive. The only problem is to transfer files that it´s a bit slow. Very good buy.

It's a pity it doesn't bring any cables but it plays fine all my MKV media and also almost any other format. I plugged in the ASUS USB-N10 EZ N NETWORK ADAPTER and it worked incredibly well.
The only thing I didn't like is that the interface works somehow slow (not while playback just when scrolling through the menus) just like and old computer.

Comments about Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Network Media Player:
The 4 stars is because I had a problem connecting to the WiFi network at home. Tech support from WD did not help. I determined the problem to be that the WD needed to know the network address of the DSL modem. All other devices on my network use the DNS of the service provider, but this did not work for the WD. When I entered the address of the DSL modem in the DNS entry for the WD WiFi setup, it connected properly. Once past this initial problem, the unit works great. The picture and sound quality are excellent, and it plays all of the file types that I have on the network from various sources, including the original HD video files from my Canon 5D Mark II camera (other servers made me convert to mpeg which killed the picture quality). The picture quality on these videos is excellent. It will play back from a media equipped PC, a network storage device, a local storage device, or its own internal drive; all without any effort from the user other than selecting the one you want.

I connect it on my LED TV, it is great to see all kind of movies, photo and music.
I am using only with movies, because if you have a lot of musics or/and photos it's a little bit slow.

Comments about Western Digital WD TV Live Hub Network Media Player:
It is really handy and easy-to-use equipment. I've just connected my usb hard drive and started copying all media into it. It can read almost all media formats, however it didn't recognise my uncompressed home video. Besides, it doesn't have voice control feature, I had to use TV remote instead. It is small enough to take to somewhere and share home video with friends.

I run a Media Server in our house with our Own dvds, home movies, music, and Photos. This device i believes is user friendly if you know what your are doing. With a little gidance anyone can use it. I like the fact that it comes with its own Hard drive and that i can sync from a network device to it. I own two of these, I take it with me when i got to my grandms, a hotel, or even my cabin. I like it so much i had to get another one. I like the fact that you can leave the dvd a vob file and it will still work meanning you dont have to lose any dvd video quality.

It's a definitely great product, everything works great and even better after the firmware update. The only thing I didn't realize is that I can't use it as storage for my movies. You can copy from your computer or external HDD anything on it, but you can't copy anything back.
