The Sony DCR-SX45 SD Flash Memory Camcorder is an entry-level camera that goes beyond the realm of the pocket cam. Providing you with a plethora of shooting controls and functions the SX45 gives you customization options and the freedom to let the camera do the heavy-lifting for you.
Simply pop in a compatible media card: Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo, SD, or SDHC. The SX45's 1/8" CCD image sensor works together with the processor, Carl Zeiss lens, features like image stabilization and 70x Extended zoom, and the 3.0" touch screen LCD to help you record your memories right to the memory card of your choosing.
Of course, the aforementioned shooting controls do a fair amount of the work as well. Intelligent Auto, for instance, automatically selects the right setting for your shot from seven different scene modes, taking the guesswork out of recording. Other features like an LED video help you to take your best shots at night or in low light settings.
When you're all done shooting and ready to share there's no need to fret. The SX45 comes with Sony's Picture Motion Browser software for editing with Windows based machines. PMB helps you to trim, add titles, and otherwise customize your footage. It also helps you to upload your movies to your favorite social media sites.

I bought the camera to record/document my many travels and record different places that I've visited....The DCR-SX45 is PERFECT for this use. It's so compact and light it will go anywhere and it's 14hr battery it a tremendous bonus....I did buy an additional 7hr battery as back up just in case. I'm still familiarizing myself with the many function and love the user friendly software it comes with...Unfortunately the auto focus isn't as bright in dark places. I would have like more auto lighting. However there is a light you can turn on when you need extra lighting.

Nice camera...nothing bad to say. We were looking for a simple video camera to replace the one we had which was 9 years old. Our old Sony worked perfectly the whole 9 years (and still does...just tired of tapes) so we looked for another. This has been perfect. Super light weight, touch screen controls so really easy to use, and it takes really nice video. So far, we are really happy.

This product is a great choice for a household camcorder. it's small and lightweight so its easy to store. its simple and easy to figure out how to use. the touch screen is clear and easy to use and you wont find yourself jamming at it to get it to register what you are pushing. the lens is steady and the footage you shoot is clear! i def. recommend this product!
