The Sony HDR-PJ50V High-Definition Handycam Camcorder with Projector is more than just a high def camcorder: it's a projector! That's right, instead of sharing your videos and photos on a small LCD screen, the PJ50V lets you project your memories up to 60" onto any wall or flat surface. Nobody will have to squint to see your masterpiece. What's more, the PJ50V also features a built-in GPS receiver. Tag your videos for archiving, geo-tagging, and easy retrieval.
When it comes to the camera's aforementioned high def recording you'll get the best video possible with 1920 x 1080 60p or 24p recording. And using the HDMI connection will allow you to share your movies, in all their glorious detail, on the big screen with just one cable. Of course helping the camera to make those stunning images would be the Wide Angle G lens, a 1/4" CMOS sensor, optical image stabilization, 17x Extended zoom, and other core features, like the 3.0" LCD.
No matter what you record, or how, the PJ50V stores it all to the 220GB hard disk drive. The HDD allows for up to 91 hours of storage. When you insert an SD/SDHC/SDXC or Sony Memory Stick media into the camera you'll get even more storage capacity.
The PJ50V also features a number of shooting controls, like Intelligent Auto, Tracking Focus, and more. These controls take the guesswork out of recording, allowing you to be present in the moment, not worried about the camera's settings. Other handy features of the camera include microphone and headphone jacks for enhanced audio recording. Other audio considerations that Sony gave this cam include, 5.1 channel Surround Sound, an Active Interface Shoe, Clear Phase built-in stereo speakers, and wind noise reduction.

Comments about Sony HDR-PJ50V Camcorder:
I am giving it 4 stars because there is always room for improvement. My one big complaint is that it is not truly compatible with my non pc computer but even that is not a problem and I knew that was the case when I bought it. I can still connect it and it will still transfer the video footage to my video editor. I find it shoots excellent footage in low light situations. The image stabilization feature is so good you almost never need a tripod. It is slightly smaller than I expected and it does feel like a plastic toy but for someone who was in the habit of lugging around a lot of heavy video recording equipment it is a total pleasure to be able to walk with this all the time and not notice the weight. I am really pleased that I selected the HDR-PJ50V camcorder.

Comments about Sony HDR-PJ50V Camcorder:
I've been shooting and editing amateur video since about 1991 on an occasional basis, including rock shows, solar eclipses, and underwater. I started with Hi-8, and went thru miniDV, including buying multiple used miniDV cameras to shoot shows. I waited until now to buy an HD camcorder, and initial use says I got a great one. Low light works well, and I hope to find a housing for it for underwater work.
As with anything with so many features it'll take some time to get familiar with it, but it beats the last generation hands down for features including the projector. Watch what you shoot, and shoot it again if needed; or preview an opening act with the same lighting, project it, and adjust settings before the lead group.

Comments about Sony HDR-PJ50V Camcorder:
Not only does this product take great videos and stills, it allows lots of people see them projected on a wall!!!... Much better than the Hi-8 that I had before... Plan to use this both above and below water for some great pic's... I'm really looking forward to my next trip to the Bahamas for some great shots...
