Comments about Canon FS400 Flash Memory Camcorder (Silver):
i use the fs400 to record appearances at random comedy clubs and venues with inconsistent/ poor lighting situations, usually its a decent job of recording sound, though AWB is not so great w the range of lighting on random stages, its great for getting material recorded to just review and rewrite, for better video quality, it takes a bit more time to finesse and such, but worth it for the price.
i owned the fs200 until the joystick broke.. this updated model no longer has plug to listen on earphones, a key reason i bought the previous model, i cna stick an earphone in, but only halfway to listed in left ear, no way to adjust setting to make it work like the fs200, stil its a decent camera i had the fs200 for 2-3 years til joystick broke -beware, keep it protected at all times, once that goes, its toast, cant get to much other navigation.
i did not want an HD camera since if im shooting basic footage just to review and rewrite jokes/material, did not seem wise to use HD camera to gobble up all the GB on the flash

Comments about Canon FS400 Flash Memory Camcorder (Silver):
needed a camera for a surveillance type set-up in a laboratory setting and also a camera to bring on the road for recording off-site. This camera allowed me to kill two birds with one stone. It's A LOT smaller than I thought it would be and it functions very well as a wall mounted camera, and it's very travel friendly for bringing off-site. I bought two!

I bought this to use to record homes for review later as we were house hunting. It was light weight and easy to use. Nice battery life and we bought a larger SD Card so it holds plenty of video. I now use it to play around and make clips for the family as well.

Comments about Canon FS400 Flash Memory Camcorder (Silver):
This camera had great reviews including consumer reports best in this price range and it has lived up to the reviews. It takes great wide screen video and the quality is there even though it is not HD. The battery lasts for nearly 4 hours as does the 16 gig SD card that I purchased separately so I am ready to shoot any event. The Canon software is easy to use to edit and burn DVD's. I am very happy with the purchase.

For the price it is five stars. There are of course much more expensive etc. but it is quick and small(fits in pocket). The 41x zoom is what I wanted and it is pretty good.

Good, full set of features, pretty easy to learn, good quality video.
Manual needs to be printed in bigger type.
Hard to tell what the pictures/icons in the manual are. Pics are too small.
