The HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black) from Samsung is a compact camcorder that can record 1080i and 720p HD video. It uses SD/SDHC memory cards for video storage, making it easy to load your home movies to your computer. If that wasn't enough, the camera can also capture 4.9MP still images using its BSI CMOS sensor. The camera's Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan-HD lens features a 10x optical zoom range and a fast aperture of f/1.8 for excellent low-light performance.
Designed for ambidextrous usage, the camcorder features Samsung's unique and innovative Switch Grip system. A G-magnetic sensor inside the camera recognizes whether you are using your left or right hand to hold the camera and adjusts the LCD display so that you can better control recording settings.
The camera's 2.7" LCD allows you to frame your video with ease. It features an intuitive touch screen interface for control. Samsung's Easy Operation and Smart Access user interface provides just that: it is designed to make the camera easy enough for almost anyone to use.

Great stereo audio, touch screen interface and video quality. As with all consumer camcorders, video quality suffers a little in low light as the camera turns up the gain, however it is very acceptable and usable. The OIS Duo is adequate. The manual white balance and exposure compensation are nice. I wish it had touch point focusing. Face detection sometimes can't track subjects wearing glasses. I prefer the 720p to the 1080i. Stills are poor, due to extreme shutter lag; get a still camera if you want stills.

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
I mainly use this camera to film youtube videos on a weekly basis. This is a good camera for vlogging because it has a flip screen so you can film yourself and stay in the shot. It is a good camera to keep in your pocket for trips in case you need to quickly whip it out and film a friend doing something stupid. However, the camera does sometimes take a while to focus. If you are camera savvy, however, this can be combated by manual focus feature. The camera also has some neat shooting filters/effects.
You should not buy this camera if you are looking for a still shooting camera though it is good for an occasion picture is good quality. Do not expect quick shooting though.

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
Most affordable HD camcorder in this class. Has a very unique feature that enables left handed and right handed users to record HD video. At this price range, you don't expect to get a touch screen controlled camcorder with 1080i capability. Included software allows you to view and edit your creation. The only drawback is the software is not MAC compatible.

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
Got the camcorder for hunting and so far I like it. The zoom is only 10X optical but I would rather have the HD feature than a lot of zoom that is blurry. The camcorder is very lightweight and the touch screen is a good size. Also really like the switchgrip so left-handed people can use comfortably. The only complaint is that the grip is a little small and the plastic does not feel as sturdy as some other brands. Overall really good deal.

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
We got this camcorder for vacations and random videos of everyday events. It's very sharp and clear, and the image stabilization works well. I like the touch-screen interface -- it's well laid out and very responsive. It doesn't have an external mic jack, but for casual use that doesn't matter. It turns on in about 3 seconds after opening the screen. It seems to have manual focus, but I haven't figured out how to change focus during shooting. I like the manual exposure compensation (EV) though. The screen hinge is less than sturdy but other than that it seems well put together. Having to manually open the lens cover is annoying though. All in all, definitely worth the price. Also: Although the Samsung warrantee doesn't apply here in Canada, the SageMax guarantee more than makes up for it, and it's *still* cheaper than local!

I live in Australia and the product is had to obtain, it is so new.. It arrived and was a great out of box experience from the start. International power adaptor takes care of the power needs, charges through USB as well, Very crisp and sharp auto focus, wide angle and zoom is on a small tab that is at the one touch record button on the rear.. Easy to use and maintain a smooth zoom.. Touch screen controls on the viewing panel make it a breeze to use, even with my fumbly fingers.. I love that the manual is included on the camera as an option on the view panel if I get stuck.. The left and right hand changeover is usefull as my wife is left and I am right handed.. I just love it..

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
I bought this camera for the sole purpose of filming bmx videos, with a little bit of "artsiness" in them. It was a replacement for my broken flipcam. So far the camera has been great, the zoom is adequate, it is shapely and has some cool features. The switch grip is quite annoying, as sometimes it detects that it is upside down when it actually isnt. luckily though, there is a setting on the camcorder to turn that off. The video quality is surprisingly good for such a inexpensive camera, although it shoot at 30fps (in full 1080 at least), and the footage is very jerky on both my mac and my pc, as they seem to have trouble playing it until it has been rendered properly. There is quite allot of wind noise, but overall a good buy.

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Black):
Being disabled & only able to use my left arm fully, having the switch feature is the ONLY camera that makes it easy for both my wife (right handed) and myself to be able to use the same camera proficently.
The ability to use dual image stabilisation is great and works exceptionally well. Crisp clean high definition images both video and still are obtained everytime. Having the choice of 1080 and 720 HD recording is great especially if you are travelling and don't want to carry too many extras. Good size screen with a clear image and quick focusing when zooming.
Overall a fantastic, compact, easy to use, feature rich video camera for everyone.

Have had it for a couple of weeks. Used for some family shots, but mostly my son has been filming his saltwater aquarium. Great, sharp, colorful closeups.
What's great about it: easy to use, VERY portable, sharp videos, good low-light performance, many adjustment goodies to be found with the touch screen, excellent price.
Not so great: I'll have to get back to you on that because I haven't run into it yet.
