The JVC GZ-HM670 HD Everio Camcorder puts HD recording at your fingertips, along with a number of user-friendly shooting controls. Store up to 32GB of footage to the internal memory of the HM670, and shoot even more when using optional SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The camera's 1/4.1" CMOS sensor, Konica Minolta HD Lens, and other core features ensure that you'll capture solid, future-friendly video every time you shoot.
You'll compose and review your video or still images using the HM670's 2.7" LCD display, while 40x optical zoom, 70x Dynamic zoom, and the Advanced Image Stabilizer ensure clear, steady memories. Other recording features include 24Mbps high bit rate recording, and JVC's Super LoLux which ensures high quality video even in low light settings.
Shooting controls on the HM670 include useful functions like Intelligent Auto, which automatically picks the best settings for the scene. Other shooting controls include Auto REC, Time-Lapse REC, Smile Meter, and others. Another highlight of the camera, the HDMI connection, allows for one cable connection to your HDTV for sharing on the big screen!
When you're done recording and ready to show the world what you've shot the HM670 comes with JVC's Everio MediaBrowser 3 software. This software is provided in the camera, so there's no disc to lose. Just connect to your computer and the software will point the way. Uploading to social media sites like YouTube and Facebook is a breeze, and trimming or adding effects is user-friendly as well.

Record in AVCHD Full HD if you want to watch the results on an HDTV or burn 1920 x 1080 resolution videos to a Blu-ray disc or DVD. In addition you can record in Standard Definition to edit 720 x 480 resolution videos for longer recording times, burn to standard DVD and share with people who haven't upgraded to HDTV yet. Remember HD for higher quality recordings or SD for broad compatibility and longer recording time the choice is yours

- Face Sub-Window
Touch on a face on the LCD screen, and the face is automatically shown enlarged in a corner of the screen. So you can record both a group shot and a close-up of someone at the same time!
- Time-Lapse REC
Time-Lapse REC records one frame at a time at set intervals (1 sec - 80 sec). So you can watch movement that's hours long in just a few seconds when played back. It's great when you want to observe an event that takes place over a long period of time or to record unique-looking scenes in a creative way
- Auto REC
When a subject enters the detecting area and the luminance changes, recording starts automatically. Recording continues as long as there is movement within the area and automatically stops after 5 seconds of no movement. You can use it like a surveillance camera or to observe something. - Smile Meter
Just say cheese! The Smile Meter keeps an eye on how much your subjects are smiling, giving you a % display. With Smile Shot, the camera automatically takes a picture (in video mode) every time the smile % reaches a certain level. It's a great way to take group shots filled with smiling faces

I will be using this camera to video my grandchildren. I have had several 8mm tape camcorders in the past that can never compare to the picture quality of this unit and at least 1/3 the size of the older ones.

I chose this camcorder after researching a number of other cameras. The price, and the features, as well as the ratings given by other users, sold me!
I have not been dissapointed! It's amazing how such a small camera can produce such results. I have owned three 8mm tape recorders in the past.Not gigantic in size, but nothing like this one. None of them could compare to the features and picture quality. The size, makes it so user frendly and I know I will use this camera more often simply because it is easily carried, and simple to use. So far I think I made the the right choice!

I use the camera to film weddings/sports games/and now old 8mm reels off of a wall. This is by far the best camera purchase I have ever made.
APPLE USERS
This camera works greatly with final cut pro x (my main editing program) and also works with iMovie for the less advanced movie makers. To transfer the video all you have to do is plug the USB cable in and the touch screen on the camera pops up a menu. Choose playback on PC. Then you will notice the drives of the camera pop up on your macs desktop. Just open iMovie or final cut pro and go to File->import from camera and it automatically grabs your cameras video/pictures. Just import and your good to go. For HD you can even transcode into apples pro Rez.
Remember when you finish you properly eject the drives from your Mac. So your aware it works on both Snow Leopard and Lion.
QUALITY
I film in UXP (highest hd quality) and I bought the largest battery pack for this camera and I can get 2 high school games on 1 large battery. I have tested the camera in terrible weather and low light conditions. It does amazingly and I shoot from on top of the press box. I can zoom close enough to see the refs penalty calls up close and even look at the faces of the coaches on the other sideline. Make sure to get a tripod, this camera deserves it.
I highly recommend this camera to any other brand. JVC nailed it.

After looking at various models for several years and trying the video feature on my cameras, I finally settled on this camcorder and I have not been disappointed. It's lightweight (8.2 oz with battery) and perfect for my backpacking trips. I'm new to video, so I have a lot to learn but the basics are very easy to learn. Though it comes with basic software, I purchased another package that has more advanced features and was able to produce the highest quality setting into MPEG and stream to my TV. Even though streaming seems to degrade the quality a bit, the quality was much better than streaming my slide shows produced through a different program. I have not yet created a DVD, but expect the quality to really be outstanding. I don't know if you can turn off the sound directly on more expensive camcorders, but that is probably the only gripe I have. However, it can be turned off through editing software. The sounds directly from the camcorder were very good (birds and wind chimes sounded very realistic). Thus far, I've only tried it around the house but will be taking it on a trip this next week. The zoom is great, but extreme zooming probably requires a tripod or at a minimum a monopod since any shaking is magnified. There are also some focus issues at the extreme end of the zoom range but maybe some of the subjects need to be further away. I considered one of the more basic camcorders since I'm new to video but thought I would outgrow the basic features in a short period of time. This camcorder looks like it has enough features to create high quality home-style movies that I will be satisfied with for quite some time. I described myself as a casual user only because I am a beginner, but am probably an enthusiast for the visual arts in general.

I like everything about this camera.It is small makes it easy to carry around. You can put the camera in your pocket,if you wanted to and no would know that it was a camera.The sound quality is great.
The only draw back is that you can only view video on a blue ray player. If someone know how to change that post it.
