Vello ET-65III Dedicated Lens Hood
The dedicated Vello ET-65III Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 85mm f/1.8 USM, EF 100mm f/2 USM, EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, EF 135mm f/2.8 SF, EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM, and EF 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 (original) Lenses.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens, by extending and shading the end of the lens. A dedicated lens hood is designed to perfectly match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

I bought this lens hood to use with a new 85 mm 1.8 lens. It certainly works and, when placed on the lens for shooting, seems secure. My main complaint, and it is a big one, is that it won't mount backwards for storage, like every other lens hood I have. It is always falling off and getting lost in my bag.

I bought the Canon 85mm f/1.8 and wanted a lens hood for it. I shoot night time dirt track races and find the lens hood protects from flying mud and the like. That's not a typical use for a lens hood but it works very well. Unlike most lens hoods this one spins around, it doesn't really make any difference, I'm just used to ones that turn and lock.
